The author of this article should have taken a deep breath and asked himself, "does anyone want to read this?"

And then he'd throw it in the trash.

Mahoney is immature, not gay. He looked at the world the same way a teenager does. His journey was about growing up.

Better yet, if George Lucas is serious about improving Star Wars then he'll remove Jar-Jar and digitally insert Michael Winslow.

You are quite correct.

The author dropped a ten strip of LSD last night, and thought it would be a good idea (and why not on lsd) to watch the first 4 Police Academy movies?

I surprised how few people understand the power of subtlety. Rather than going straight for the nipples, give us the slightest hint of what is underneath the shirt. It is more alluring that way.

This article's ok, but I found the author's previous shot-by-shot analysis of Full House's blatant plagiarizing of the Sibylline Oracles much more compelling.

The Bill Moyers interview with Joseph Cambell "The Power of Myth" was wonderful.

"Follow your bliss."

The hero's journey thing far pre-dates Joseph Campbell. But the blowjob under the podium, that's all Police Academy.

The Joseph Campbell hero's journey is like the virgin birth plot point. People think they're being profound by referencing it. But, you're not.

Imagine the ending of Godfather III where Michael died alone to a montage of all his failures. That's how the Littlest Senator died, secure in the knowledge that putting Palpatine in charge destroyed everyone and everything he ever could have loved. Then he slumps over, dead.

Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly. I'm actually getting pretty sick of college kids bringing up Joseph Campbell as if it's this big, recently-discovered, top-secret literary revelation.

Hey kids, we get it: A loose understanding of the Joseph Campbell thing is all you managed to retain from your English Lit. class. You guys can't spell worth a damn, and you still type words like "FAIL" instead of "failure" and "MOAR" instead of "more", but you certainly seem to think you understand everything there is to know about the hero's journey.

/Oh, Dorothy Parker, where are you?
//Oh, yeah... Dead.

OBVIOUS tag would be appropriate. I think everyone can figure out the formula of especially US cinema.

Guy faces challenge, overcomes said challenge and lives happily ever after.

Meh. All the hipsters know that in order to sound profound regarding narrative, we reference Vladimir Propp.

Mugato and other know-it-alls else goes off to google Propp.
