I may be stupid but I fly Alaska a couple of times a year and I've never seen a prayer card when I purchase one of their box o' snacks. What am I missing?

$6 for a bottle of mediocre white wine actually isn't half-bad, I must say.

I like Alaska Airlines. Not the worst airline out there, and the food is really quite good for an airline.

The article says that the cards are served with meals, which the airline stopped serving to coach several years ago. So apparently, only first-class people are worthy of Jesus' love, or something.

Happy Hours: Grand_Moff_Joseph: Have flown Alaska a few times to and from SEATAC. Nice airline - good service, and the in-flight food for purchase is some of the best I've seen on a domestic carrier.

Yes, we should be glad we have to pay for a meal when we're shelling out hundreds of dollars for a flight.

Hundreds of dollars isn't a bad price when I can get to LA in 3 hours from Seattle. Try that driving, and you spend the as much or more on gas and hotels for the day and a half journey.

They're actually a good airline. Almost always on time, good prices for flights. If you live in Seattle and have to travel the west coast often, like I do for work, they are about your beat option. Virgin is a little better, but they don't go to all the places I need to be.

i fly Alaska all the time and i haven't seen one of those cards in years, meal service or not.

Nasty. We've talked about it but the fact is those bathrooms are absolutely revolting. Plus you would be surprised how many people get caught doing that...and face some serious penalties.

So how about the bathroom at the Alaska Airlines Board Room at Seatac?

I heard that place is heaven. I'm not allowed up there though...

Oh wait, I was thinking of something else. I probably could get in there, but we usually don't have much of a wait before our flights. She gets me through security without the line and we just walk up and board the plane.

My brother has the gold status for Delta (I think), and that club area is really nice. Free drinks/WIFI/food/expedited check-in. For people that fly regularly, it's definitely the way to go.

Heh, so if all the airlines copied each other, they would all have differentiators. Sounds like a rather naive marketing decision.

How about high quality service, including adequate seating, edible food and free wine? I would have thought that would have made them different from any other airline.
Since when did air flight become a commodity, sold on price alone, and appealing to non-traveling accountants? (Rhetorical question, I'm afraid).

Actually, now that I think of it, try taking Qantas coast to coast. I tried that a few years ago, and it wasn't at all bad. The return was on American. Nuff said - end of story.

Meh, not so much. I recall the food being fairly decent on Alaska. The prayer card is more of a quirk of the region, since it's a regional carrier (despite serving states that amount to ~60% of US territory) in a region that has religious extremes that make hardcore Southern Baptists wonder what the fark is wrong with the northwest...
