So, Mr. Schettino...can you tell us about an experience in one of your previous jobs where you've had to overcome a challenge?

In retrospect, cowering in a lifeboat while the passengers struggled for their lives was not one his best moments either,

I liked the part where he claims that he didn't board the lifeboat, he fell on top of it. Sure, sounds plausible.

Don't you see it was an inside job! The Illuminati needed a new secret base off the coast of Italy so they're going to sink a fully loaded cruise ship and encapsulate it in a force field. The Bilderburg group has been backing the recovery effort in order to prevent the Illuminati from using their new cruise ship.

Based on my association with merchant mariners, he actually seems above average. It really isn't an industry that attracts the best and the brightest.

He should have said it was just a feature of the Poseidon Adventure Cruise and queued up "There's Got to Be a Morning After."

Well to submitter, it didn't actually sink. That was one thing he apparently did right (until we know otherwise), if a ship is taking water in, running it aground seems like the correct thing to do.
I guess if the vessel suddenly developed that tilt, one could fall overboard onto a lifevessel, if you were currently helping passengers into them. But that doesn't really explain why he refused to go back onto the ship. Had he done that I bet he would be portrayed completely differently.
