Denny's? Screw that. I have 10 pounds of flour, 3 gallons of milk, 4 whole chickens, 2 sacks of potatoes, a bag of onions, 5 pounds of clams, and enough dough to make a garbage bin full of hush puppies.

But here's the big gotcha from TFA- this is only true for foods fried in either olive or sunflower oil, as is primarily done in Spain, where the study was conducted.. Also, the oil must not be re-used. So, yeah, those Chicken Mcnuggetrs can still kill you.

Maybe it doesn't cause the heart attack but the occluded vascular system does.

I usually use rapeseed oil, peanut oil, or rapeseed oil.

FROM A HEALTH PERSPECTIVE
THE MOST HEALTHY OIL IS COCOANUT
BUT RAPE JUST SOUNDS SO EXCITING.

Why do sausages in the UK have to look like uncut peeners?

FTA:However, the British Heart Foundation warned Britons not to "reach for the frying pan" yet, pointing out that the Mediterranean diet as a whole was healthier than ours.

What a stupid article from a stupid study. Maybe I'm too cynical, or jaded, or just biased as a former fatty (over 100#s lost fatty) but if distilled here is how that article reads to me. 'Frying as we've always known it isn't safe but if you do it with sunflower or olive oil it is better for you. Our traditional diets don't compare to a traditional Mediterranean diet, also. So eat up as you always have, you're fine. Kinda. Not really.

I use rice bran oil for most things except salad dressings - that's always olive oil. An egg fried in olive oil just doesn't taste right, but rice bran oil tastes like it should be really unhealthy, but isn't. I'd guess a lot of it comes down to if you're the sort of person who is worried about which type of oil to use, you probably don't have that many health issues. If you scarf down 2 quarter pounders with double fries and a large coke every day for lunch there isn't going to be any sort of oil that is going to make that better.

Driving 2 Indian guys from the airport to the office we passed lots of fields of rapeseed. They were shocked, SHOCKED, I tell ya, when they found out what it was called. They spoke about it for the rest of the afternoon.

It is a "myth" that regularly eating fried foods causes heart attacks, researchers have found ...

Hurray!

... as long as you use olive oil or sunflower oil.

Oh goddammit.

How much would it cost for a study proving that frying food in bacon grease is good for you?

As a former McDonald's employee, I can attest to the fact that what they serve there is not food... it is the idea of food.

Real food decomposes when you leave it out for six freaking months.
