"Of" is a really useful word. But it really can't replace "have," no matter how hard it tries.

I really think the T-Wolves could be on their way to not being the T-Wolves. They're a long way away but there's a lot of young talent there. And with Love signing the extension they've got a few years to see if it pans out, though I really thought he should have got the max.

This is the second "Ha-ha! You lost to the T-Wolves!" thread in two weeks. Maybe something changed.

You know, the T'Wolves have won 4-of-6. They're not terrible.

Also, it doesn't sound at all like it was too distracting for them to lose to the T-Wolves at home. I'd say it was precisely the right amount of distracting for them to lose to the T-Wolves at home.

Subby must of faled elim elame alimen grade skool.

2012-01-26 11:06:24 AM
They are also winning with Ellington at the 2 all game for God's sake. Also, 1 guy to play the 3 (Williams who is a tweener 3-4 guy). Both they're SF's (Beasely and Webster) have been out a minimum of 9 games (Webster hasn't even actually played this year).

Simply put:

*Adelman preaching defense and getting the most out of role players

*Rubio coming into the league and playing at a top 15 to top 10 point guard in the league level

*Kevin Love averaging 25 points and 13 boards a night

*Rubio and Adelman bringing the "WE. WILL. NOT. LOSE." swagger to the team (even if we do lose, these 2 bring an attitude and Adelman brings a culture of expecting to WIN instead of expecintg to FAIL)

These are the reasons the T-Wolves are no joke this year. We may not be playoff bound, but by god are we FINALLY not the joke of the league.

Jim from Saint Paul:

This, pretty much. The Wolves are actually a pretty good team and have had a hell of a schedule so far this season. I'd definitely say that they are playoff bound next year.

But Subby, they did lose to the Timberwolves at home. They were not too distracted to do that. Did you skip all of your English classes growing up?

Jim from Saint Paul: And his dofus backup played well too. Scary.

I love Pek. Last year all he did was foul people. Hard. I remember a game where he hit some poor guy in the lane, and sent him flying into the crowd behind the basket, then just looked up and held his hands up as if to say, "sorry". It's like Lennie Small petting rabbits. He's getting a little better but I still love to see that befuddled look on his face when he plows someone over. "What, how you can call foul on me?"

Or the confusion on his face when someone passes him the ball.

Guy does get ridiculously good post position though. Large, large man.

I'm interested to see what Brad Miller can bring to the team when he finally gets healthy.

//Ellington played big again last night
//nice to see Wes hit a big shot or two as well

FreakinB: I really thought he should have got the max

I think it was a good deal. If Love wanted out he could have left after 5 instead of 3. What you really want is him to be here long term. It shows a bit of trust, rather than overreacting to the 'Melo, LeBron, etc situations. He's guaranteed, if he wants, 4 years at the max for 60 mil.
And though he can bail after 3, which the focus of a lot of the reports, he and the team can also (at that time) commit to an additional 2 years (on top of the four) for a total of 6 years at the max. If he wants to be here, he'll be here.

It also leaves the team with the flexibility to sign someone else to that 5-year extension, maybe Rubio if he continues to pan out, which should help keep talent around Love and make him actually want to stay long (longer than 5 years) term.

Or hopefully some big name free agent.

That's fair enough. I'll admit that I hadn't looked enough into the details. That honestly seems to work for everyone, just with Love giving up some security in exchange for more options.

Yeah I'd like to see a big FA signing, however the "one per team, 5-year max extension" rule in the new CBA only applies to rookie contract extensions. Not sure how it would apply to FAs... maybe a sign and trade... not sure.

However on the subject of free agents, I'd like to see Kevin Martin in a Wolves uniform, I believe he's a UFA after next season. Or maybe we can trade him for Beasley?

Let me just say this once so I get it out of my system:

We should go to the Magic and offer a first round pick, a second round pick and Beasley for Dwight Howard.

Rubio and Dwight running the pick and roll?

Top 2 rebounders in the league?

Love hitting wide open jumpers because the defense has to respect either him or Howard?

Did anyone read about this?

Before Gasol stepped to the line, he smiled and put his hand on top of Paul's head. Paul immediately shoved Gasol's hand away and tapped Gasol on his head.

"He tried to touch the top of my head. I don't like that," Paul said after the game. "I got a son of my own. I don't know if Pau got kids, but don't touch the top of my head like I'm one of your kids. I don't know what his intentions were, and it doesn't matter. I don't know if he's got kids, but I'm not one of them."

When Paul was asked why he tried to touch Gasol on his head, he said, "I went back and I tried to treat him like little Chris."

"You're a grown man," Paul said. "I'm not going to put my hand on top of your head. They beat us, and that's the story of the game."
Gasol, when he was told of Paul's reaction, said he didn't intend to disrespect Paul by touching his head.

"I'm sorry he felt that way," Gasol said. "I do that all the time with my teammates. It's OK. It's like if I touch your shoulder or your back. There's nothing mean about it, but it is what it is."

It was really awesome to see him again. Dallas fans really love him. It was hard to see him go, but it was understandable.

T-Wolves looked pretty good from what I saw. Love & Rubio looked awesome and T-Wolves fans should be excited, methinks.

I think the Mavs are still on a championship high and are just floating through this season. Of course, they need to make the playoffs and get their shiat together and maybe give Lamar Odom a locker-room beating or something to wake his ass up.

Also, Love & Rubio is the name of my indie salsa Beach Boys cover band.

We're young. We've got 1 piece of the puzzle (Love). We may have another (Rubio, give him this and next year to get a more consistent jumpshot).

Then it's getting/developing a sop-and-pop jump shooter to play the 2/3 and a down low "banger". We still have no physical presence down low besides the doofus.

Yeah, it's not advantageous being in the Western Conference first of all, and being in the Northwest is not helpful.

But, you know, at least we won't be the worst in the West this year, or at least I hope not.

No respect. The wolves are one more decent scoring threat away from a first round playoff exit. They're going to pull some occasional upsets against allegedly better teams. Mind you, this isn't the first time they've beat the Mavs this year either.

I know some Euro countries are more touchy-feely, but in America, that is pretty much what Paul said - it's something that you do to your kids, not other guys. I'd probably shove his hand away too.

Norms are kinda weird to explain and it doesn't really sound rational for getting angry at that, but that's something that doesn't go over well in America, and Gasol should know that by now. How many times has he done that with an opponent?

Shoving his hand away was fine. Patting him on the head after is funny. Whining about it makes you a biatch.

So? The Wolves are on the upswing and Dirk wasn't playing. These results don't mean much to after the All Star game, every team is playing inconsistent and sloppy for the most part. The Mavs need time to gel together and when they do they will be a great team and a huge threat in the playoffs.
