5 guys in less than 2 years seems a little excessive for a kid that age. I would think that those numbers would put her squarely in the slut category among most of her peers. Sure, there will be others joining her there, but whores like her are not the norm.

I don't think any parent particularly likes the idea of their kid's bedroom being a revolving door or anything. Especially when you consider how manipulative teenage boys can be. That being said, I'd rather approach the situation with information and open dialogue. If my daughter (who is on birth control and educated about condoms) wants to sleep with her long term boyfriend in my house, that's one thing. If it's a new guy every other week, I'd want to talk about it.

Meh, quit trying to recapture your youth by being your kid's best friend. Be their parent, I know it's hard and and requires effort and that they might gripe about the boundaries set for them, but that's the job you signed up for.

I have 2. Well, really, one will be 20 on Saturday and is away at college, so I have no say on what she does. However, I would NOT be ok with my daughter being a revolving door.

Look, people. I know this is a sensitive issue and all, but it's a topic I have a good amount of experience in and so really want to try to turn some normal conventional -- and incidentally, destructive -- thinking on its head here. I know the instinct for many parents is to get all squeamish about your daughter having sex. You don't want to think about her getting pounded by her boyfriend, the idea of her fellating him or submitting to him in any one of the various dog-related positions just turns your stomach. You can't bare to imagine her in a reverse cowboy. We won't even talk about things like threesomes.

But look at this way -- the vast majority of teenage sex is unsupervised by an adult. Think about what that means? You have two inexperienced teens, fumbling around with each other, not sure how to use these various devices and protections and whatnot. I've heard stories about slipped condoms lost deep and requiring surgery to remove. Accidental penetrations that led to irrational fear of anal intercourse.

Would we send Seal Team 6 in to rescue hostages without training them first? No, of course not. Why then do we send our teenagers to the bedroom untrained?

I'm not saying you should have sex with your teenager. That's just sick, and you're a freaking pervert for even thinking that. Just stop reading now, you disgust me. But for those of you with a rational, normal bend, think about it this way. Do you want your daughter pregnant? No, of course not. You want your child protected. And that's noble. That's a parent's greatest drive. So you help her get a prescription for birth control. Good for you. You buy her some condoms. Good, very open-minded.

But the problem is that for many parents, it stops here. You've given your daughter the weapons she needs to protect herself from her boyfriend's penis, but you've given her no target range to practice. What happens if you give someone a handgun but no place to fire it? That's right, they end up firing it everywhere, and that's how people die. So now your daughter is going to be out in the wild, having sex in some backwoods outhouse or country lane where bearded moonshiners and shambling hobos might stumble upon her. They do horrible things to people in the woods, unnatural things. Is that what you want for her?

Of course not. That's why you let her be home. But for many parents, that's where they hit the red line. They say, "Yes, you can have sex with Brian, but only when I'm not home or after the Ambien has kicked in." And what's that communicate to your daughter? That sex is something she should sneak around and do? That it's OK as long as she leads a double life? This is how prostitutes and porn stars are born. If that's what you want for your daughter, I guess it's not my place to judge you. But an open-minded parent, who's now give their young girl the weapons and the practice space she needs, will go the next step and help her learn. After all, you don't just let some kid loose with an AK47 on the firing range. You stand beside them, you show them how to hold it, you help them aim and squeeze the trigger. That's not perverted, that's parenting.

Be strong. Be supportive. Be a parent.

I don't mean that in a special snowflake manner; she just has little use for the usual trappings of teenage girlhood - makeup, fashion, etc. She's the computer nerd equivalent of a tomboy.
