Can you blame the guy? If I had to do that shiat day in and day out I'd be shiatfaced every day too.

Anyone have these videos?

I'm glad I was able to just read that because DLHQ is damn near unwatchable. It feels like something they would have tried back when ESPN2 was "The Deuce."

I actually enjoyed watching that little segment. He seems like a fun guy.

And Bob Barker hosted The Price is Right after nailing his way through the models and firing them for getting old or chunky.

...and for him, that was Tuesday!

He added: "I would be hesitant to have anything to drink now."

Mostly because the sheer amount of Valium I take and those don't work all that nicely together.

I love Pat!

When I was in college my housemates and I wrote Pat a fan letter (it was in the days when you bought prizes..."and the rest on a gift certificate!") which included the sentence, "Your show is a real repudiation of bourgeois values" and suggested that he, a former weatherman for KNBC, and David Letterman, another former weatherman, should team up "for the glory of the network and local affiliate."

He wrote back and said something like, "I sound like a great guy; I should start spending a lot more time with me." Man, I wish I hadn't lost that letter in the post-college moving from place to place.

I wonder if he ever got so drunk that he got stuck in a closet with Vanna White?

Pat Sajak is a really decent guy I must say.
But get a few appletini's in him
and he's all over Vanna like a cuttlefish on a clam.

This is really no big deal.

For example, the cast of Match Game were most likely farked up every episode.

Precious Roy's Horse Dividers: I wonder if he ever got so drunk that he got stuck in a closet with Vanna White?

I think there was a rumor when they both had personal tragedy hit them in the same year. Like both of their spouses died or some divorce/ deatth?

It's not exactly brain surgery.

Hollywood Squares used to shoot all 5 weekly episodes in one day; four in the morning and one after lunch. The episode shot after lunch was always notoriously sloppy.

Gotta say, I'm listening to the podcast of LeBetard's show. Its actually entertaining in a mildly trainwreck sort of way. Still prefer PTI and ATH, but its not bad.
And Dan's radio show didn't suck the one time I listened to it, so there's that.

Kornheiser's radio show is much better though.

Dallymo: I love Pat!

When I was in college my housemates and I wrote Pat a fan letter (it was in the days when you bought prizes..."and the rest on a gift certificate!")

I was with some extended family around Christmas one year when WoF came on TV in the background. I remarked about the old days when after the puzzle the players would buy crap with the winnings and it somehow sparked a BS call and an argument. I think a couple of uncles almost came to fisticuffs before I used the internets to prove it. Rum and cokes for everyone.

I'd like to see Alex Trebek do an episode hammered, but with Canadians there's a fine line between "visibly hammered" and "alcohol poisoning".

Just how young is your "extended family"?

Always thought the prize buying thing would be common knowledge to anyone over 30 who didnt live under a rock.

You don't even have to be that old, since the Game Show Network aired ancient episodes of Wheel of Fortune up to the early 2000s.

FirstNationalBastard: For example, the cast of Match Game were most likely farked up every episode.

There was a bar cart on the set of Match Game. They'd tape five shows in a day, so by the time they got to the show that would air on Friday, they were generally pretty loaded.

/Apparently, drinking on set was pretty common on celebrity game/panel shows from the early days of TV into the early 80s.

I was about 30 then, and my dad is 34 years older than me, and he was second of 10 kids, so in the range of 45-60. When my dad's family gets together, margaritas, beer, and rum flow freely so memory is fungible.

Next time around, tell 'em that Bob Barker wasn't the first host of The Price is Right, and watch the fireworks begin.

Big time urban legend was that Trebek was drunk for the final episode of "High Rollers" back in the day.

Ahh yes, the old Alex with the porn 'stache. Swore that guy was Bruno Kirby. Pat gets a pass from me too, if I had to put up with that crap for a couple of hundred grand a week, I'd be getting tanked as well.

Had to chuckle at the "smell my fingers" story. If a slightly drunk Vanna White casually said the same thing to me just before going on stage, I'd be a little rattled too.
