You know what you call 5 lepers in a hot tub?

Soup.

Why did the leper fail his driving test?

He left his foot on the gas.

I love Aardman, but that jokes just a bit off.

We had a party and invited a midget leper. He had to leave because everyone was using the back of his head for bean dip.

They can't put a finger on what it is that bothers them so much.

FTA: The film, voiced by Hugh Grant and Brian Blessed, is released in the UK in March.

Why would you write for The Sun if you're the proud owner of a time machine?

Do people in the UK still contract leprosy? I thought it had been eradicated in western countries.

They must not be too upset. They're having a Party at the Leper Colony. (new window)

Saw previews for this at Chipwrecked (which was better than I expected, but not great), and my 7 year old had to ask what leprosy was...so yeah, it's a joke wasted in a movie for kids. I found it amusing though.

you'd need thickener. add some arrowroot powder, cornstarch, or even flour -- yeah, then you got yourself a stew. :)

Q: What did the leper say to the prostitute?

A: Keep the tip.

I can't help but think...

Leprosy is one of those diseases we could wipe out in a generation. It's treatable, and most of humanity is already immune to it.

Then we could make fun of it all we like.

Really? Well, since this seems to be a sincere question, I guess a more correct title would be "song interpreter"...? But they are common at shows large and small. Expert (non-leper) signers who interpret songs by standalone singers and "Broadway" type shows.

I hate to put a damper on all these jokes, but...

Contrary to folklore, leprosy does not cause body parts to fall off, although they can become numb or diseased as a result of secondary infections; these occur as a result of the body's defences being compromised by the primary disease.

The more you know (new window)

That really doesn't address the point. I'm not handicapped, so I certainly don't attend events where I would see something as stupid as a sign language translation of an art form about sound, not words.

Yeah, it seems weird to me as well. I guess deaf people can still appreciate songs as a form of poetry, though.

How's this for a point, Phil I. Steen: Deaf people DO appreciate THE DRAMA OF LIVE PERFORMANCES and make the verbal associations THROUGH THE INTERPRETERS while coupling those associations with the facial/body expression of the singers. Are you really this dense? I'm suspecting a troll in the works. You don't think deaf people enjoy live theater? Live concerts? Then you don't know any deaf people and you're just plain ignorant. Well, go find the remote and have a nice day.

I'm sure you believe that. In reality, deaf people are largely morons because of the conveniences that non-handicapped people make for them. A large sub-section of them prevent their children from receiving cochlear implants at the ages that they would be most effective. I have no doubt that they pretend to enjoy sign-singing because they have a culture that celebrates their disability. Do they really enjoy it? Couldn't tell you, but probably not. They might as well farking read the song.
