That's why Belichick stopped naming offensive and defensive coordinators for awhile. They were always really good and the rest of the league would pilfer them.

You have no idea how much I want the new Ravens defensive coordinator to bring in his own schemes and mess with everything that has made Baltimore a defensive terror. I want to see the strife live and in living color on the sidelines when Suggs and Lewis drop the hammer on the new guy and he tells them to shut up and color. I want to see the one thing that has made Baltimore even remotely good fall completely apart, if only for the year or two it will take to fire the guy. I want to see their defense get burned like an arsonist in Hell. Oh, that would make me so happy, I'm grinning ear to ear right now thinking about it.

Looks like the Steelers have a leg up on the division already next year. The Bengals aren't ready for prime time and this year may well have been a fluke anyway, they rarely string two good seasons together. Cleveland is still Cleveland. For all the Steelers fans that wanted Arians gone (I didn't) we get to see what a dedication to the run will do in a pass-happy league with one of the 5 best quarterbacks in it.

I'm already anxious for next year. Too bad I have 7 months to wait.

Pretty much all of them had decent defenses - just most of them had sh*tty offenses and took over sh*tty teams.

I like how in our retarded society, reaching the tournament semifinals two out of three years is "passable." He set the sights higher than that, but in reality, that's not easy to do.

Mike Smith (Falcons) was on the Ravens' staff for 3 years too. So you can put him in the same extended branch of the "coaching tree" as Singletary and DelRio.

I think that as a Colts fan you'd know what "poorly" looks like.

/there's no reason to have a great season anymore in the NFL - all that matters is getting into the playoffs. Home field advantage isn't even significant.

redmid17: Based against expectations, the Jets didn't have good regular seasons. Playoffs involve a lot more luck than people think.

The only reason the Jets expectations were high was because Ryan set them higher than people would have normally expected. Unless you expect most teams with a rookie head coach and QB to make the AFC Championship Game. Or even have a winning record. Setting goals high and falling short of them USED to be considered good because hey, if you set your goals high and fall short, then you're still doing a damn good job. Now people seem to think that if you set your goals high and fall short, then you're a failure.
