Since I'm all about the Western/Central Division, I'm most concerned about the rise of the Predators. With a goalie like Rinne, it was a matter of time.
NBC analysts pointed out that between the top 4 in the division, one SCF-caliber team will not go to the playoffs.

The Red Wings are first place in the toughest division in the NHL, have won 6 in a row and 18 in a row at home. How in hell are they not #1?

About goddamn time someone was afraid of us. Plus the Preds are in no danger of going anywhere. 97% home attendance on the year, just a tiny stadium. And we have an offense! How did
that
happen?

That's exactly what I predicted (in some hockey thread): the offense will gel, and holy shiat. Rinne was unreal in the playoffs last year.
I'll be watching every division teams' games, nails bitten. Except Columbus, those poor souls.

This thread is now about the All Star Game draft.
Stamkos goes #1.

Rangers are coming off a win against the Bruins -- the defending champs and probably the most well constructed team in the league. They also own the league's best point percentage and best GAA. Their goaltending tandem is scary good, Lundqvist is having the season of his career so far and Biron is a lights-out backup, and they've done all this with a stupid amount of distractions and injuries to their blue line. They play in a division with the Flyers and the Penguins and (don't laugh) the Devils. They're a very good team.
That being said, I think Boston will edge them as the season draws to a close. I'd have my top five look like this:
1. Boston
2. New York Rangers
3. Detroit
4. St. Louis
5. Philly

Yes I am bored enough that I am watching the allstar draft.
I am not a fan of how much social media is being incorporated into everything.
Yes, I use Facebook etc. No I
don't care what people are tweeting.
Anyway, I think Malkin is first, Pominville is last.
Beer should make this more interesting. Anyone else noticing how painfully socially awkward all of the interactions on this tthing are?

I didn't even realize the NHL season had started, much less they were about 50 games into it, until I clicked the link. Now that basketball's back, you'd think the sport would just fade back into obscurity. Of course, that's assuming it ever left obscurity...which is doubtful.

I was thinking the best way to get Thomas to not enter any hockey stadiums is to have all the arena workers wear Obama masks. Little Timmy would start hissing like he was Dracula looking at a clove of garlic.

The loss of top players such as Jamie Benn and Mike Ribeiro is taking its toll, as the Stars have just one win in their last six.
Lolololololololol when you describe some scrub like Jamie Benn as one of your star players, and have to put that elbow throwing pussy Ribeiro in there too, you know your team farking sucks.

Yeah and yet he leads a team of nobodys because the team sucks. Plus, notice how the good players are selected and he hasn't been taken yet. He was probably a pity selection. LOL and it's funny how you stars "fans" always claim people from buffalo can't let your bullshiat stanley cup go but it's always you douchebags who bring it up. Must suck to have your only championship routinely go down as one of the top ten worst ref calls of all time. And it was over ten years ago.
My team's last cup was ten years ago too, but at least the storyline was one of the greatest defensemen of all time finally getting his.
