Sad. Things there used to be much simpler. More black and white. Not the same since the colors moved in.

Is Joan Allen still touching herself in the bathtub? Because that would be pleasant.

Somehow I doubt things are as black and white as they're letting on.

I used to live in the area. Pleasantville has always been a shiatty place. Terrible schools, gangs, low unemployment, you name it. If it weren't for the fact that it had 3.25% sales tax (or something like that), nobody would have any real reason to go there at all.

/Used to go to the Asian Supermarket there that was appropriately named "Asian Supermarket."

No, they're (by which, I mean the owners) just not very imaginative people.

So they're on the line between "Gaudy Summer Homes" and "Ghetto in the Woods," but they've been getting a few days of "Worse than Detroit."

Rule of thumb, your safety in any particular city is inversely proportional to the friendliness of the city's name.

Their town name says "rape" twice.

They must really like safety.

I don't care if she's happy. With perky lovelies like hers, I'm certainly happy...

P'ville used to be the place they'd have the AC cabbies drive them before they robbed them. The Asia market is good, the Mexican restaurant was actually better when it was in its old bad location & Essl's technically is in West AC.

Wash's supposedly has great food even if has had 4 murders in the parking lot over the years. (you read right, that's one bar with 4 murders)

Good Eats & Bad Area

/I work just outside the town
//even I didn't go to Wash's in my "good old days"
///And it's a REALLY small town by "real world" standards

I was an Egg Harbor Township cabbie. They'd take our cabs back to AC, and stiff us on the fare.

The only good thing Pleasantville ever had left when Pasquini's Pizzaria closed around 1980.

When I was in school, I worked security. Most of it wasn't a big deal, mainly just desk jockey at senior homes.

Then I was re-assigned to work an apartment complex in Pleasantville.

I was delivering pizzas in EHT the next day and never looked back.

I once dated a girl for a long time who was from Pleasantville, NY, the one they ended up modeling the town and school after for the movie. Her parents' house was pink with the white picket fence and all that. It is a beautiful, quaint and simple town. Uncomplicated. I don't ever want to go back there again.

That is across the street from where I work. It never seemed all that bad an area to me, but I stay away from the really ghetto parts.

I was once drunk enough to go to Wash's, but I was never drunk enough to eat there.

I dunno, maybe they were assholes. Maybe the town is far better off now. You just don't know.

FTFA: There were only three homicides reported in Pleasantville in 2011.

And now three in the month of January? Not off to a good start there, guys. . .
