Subby: Only if you live in Mexico or south of the Mason-Dixon line. Both coasts are fairly obscured. It's a shame that NASA couldn't release a picture where more of the US is visible.

Did they fish-eye that picture?

The US and Mexico seem to be taking up an inordinate amount of the Earth's surface.

I noticed the same thing. If this image were accurate I'd be north of the north pole. And Chile would be at the South Pole

Sheesh, is it too much to ask to take a picture like that when it isn't cloudy?

If I (present me) find past me on the globe and past me is looking upward from my house as present me looks downward and both mes make eye contact is that like crossing the streams or something?

What if both mes are fapping at the time?

Don't get me wrong, it's a cool picture. The visibility issue isn't about clouds, it's due to the angle of a picture that's centered over Mexico City. The Northeast and Northwest regions of the US are invisible due to the curvature of the Earth from that spot. Maybe the satellite's orbit is such that this is as far north as it goes, or a more northern picture isn't possible for some other reason. All I'm saying is it would be cooler if more of the US was visible (NASA is a US agency, after all).

First thing I noticed as well. Is there a reason for this? The old looks better.

Earth sure looks big when photographed up close. That's why I prefer a photo that gives a much more realistic perspective.

Hey, because we're in the year 2012
and we have the tech and resources...

How about a ultra high resolution animated pic with the clouds taken out.
Or have it movable 360 any direction...

And have it able to zoom in...REALLY close.

oh yeah, keep it thin so I can download it easy and not take up much room.

/not asking for much

Your monitor has a resolution of over 8000 by 8000? I would love to know the model and manufacturer.
