On G4′s "Attack of the Show," Kevin Pereira, Candace Bailey, and Gillian Jacobs played a life-sized G4 version of the buzzing medical game. Check out the photos on Attack of the Blog.

Which would have been nice, except for

a) G4's "Attack of the Show" is utter shiate, and

b) Dr. Clayton Forrester and TV's Frank did it as an invention exchange years earlier and on a show that is actually good.

How do you make a game life sized when there's no real life equivalent to its board or pieces? Most of those "life sized" board games are just bigger board games. I've yet to see a real life equivalent of a scrabble piece, anyway

The is no such thing as life sized for a tile game like Scrabble. The real game is life size. These are just bigger than life size versions of the game.

Also, that wasn't life size Battle Ship.

And they're some of the more boring ones, at that.

And I don't think "Mississippi" can't be used in scrabble.

Hard to lose? Pffft, I've lost an entire toddler or two before. There's no chance I'll keep these.

That's a pretty crappy giant Chinese Checkers.

It's not a real giant Chinese Checkers unless you use Chinese babies as pegs.

Back in the 40's my both of my grand fathers had a 1:1 scale version of Axis and Allies. They were infantry.

1 offence, 1 defence.

There's a really bad parody movie called 9 1/2 ninjas. There's a scene where the hero and the main villian dance outside while he spills his grand scheme. They are dancing on a giant Monopoly Board called "Con-opolopy".

Terrible movie I remember from my youth - had to get it on DVD :D

The scene with the woman doing her thing (while the guy attacks a puppet) was nice.

I saw Life Size Mouse Trap back when it was setup in SF. They had women wearing mouse ears who got "trapped" by the cage at the end.

The life-sized version worked about as well as the original board game, which is to say not well at all. Of course when the game fails the worst thing that happens is you lose a part or two. When the life-sized version fails, you need to stay clear for falling bowling balls.

life-sized does not mean really big.

I expect this kind of crap from Cracked, but Mental Floss used to have standards.

gunther_bumpass: And I don't think "Mississippi" can't be used in scrabble.

Proper noun, not a valid word.

The word could be made in a game (someone plays "Miss" on one play, and "issippi" on another) but would be an invalid play.

It wouldn't have been very authentic if it worked perfectly. I came for the 'trap and was satisfied.

My wife and I got the game from Amazon in a deal in December. We played it just the 2 of us a couple of times. First game we were Researcher and Medic, focused completely on the wrong things and doomed the planet. Second game we were Scientist and Operations Specialist and smoked the diseases. I think we cured one on turn two. We haven't played any more because we want to get another couple over to play with but we've been so busy! I would get the expansion if we'd play the one we have right now.
