No, feminism likes to promote the idea that rape is not testosterone driven because historically people would avoid punishment by basically saying "my hormones made me do it" -- i.e. if it is hormonal then it is medical and if it is medical you can escape culpability to some extent. By making it "it's in the brain" it makes it sound like it is a matter of regular decision making.

The thing is that brain function is in fact drastically altered by sex hormones. This is well proven for all mammals including humans. The thing is that testosterone makes a person more prone to be violent, dominating, risk-taking, and sexualized. Any guy who takes steroids or HRT can tell you this. If you look at any body-building magazine and look at the extreme physical alteration due to testosterone, it is not a stretch to accept the brain function alteration.

Now the thing is that hormones not only affect the brain function, but also the development of the brain function. So castration of an adult mammal has much less effect than castration of a pre-pubescent one. That is the reason that castration of sex offenders isn't a sure thing -- they have had decades of developing testosterone-fueled thought patterns of violence and sexuality that can't be erased even if the fuel is removed from the fire. However, castration will still be a step in the right direction for sex offenders -- just not a guarantee for them to be made safe for society.

Anyway, I'm just trying to point out that we shouldn't ignore the medical facts in order to fool ourselves for a political ideal -- the brain IS affected by testosterone, and castration does change behavior. People say "rape is about domination and violence", well testosterone is about domination and violence (i.e. see Super Bowl, the corporate board room, the primary debates, etc.).

Whether that is worthwhile for sex offenders to be castrated is questionable though. I think it is probably a step in the right direction, but just part of a larger program of incarceration for dangerous offenders.

I kept trying to sell the idea, of simply if you have 3 major charges, to go to a special prison, & put a few in at a time, & have a charged vid online to make a profit, the only cost . . . is basic prison costs, any weapons that they make, they can keep for the fights only, & yea, why not LSD? or Crack? or Cocaine?anyways, it's a cheaper more affective way to reduce the criminal population . . . & simply if one survives 10 firghts, he/she gets executed by a soldier. Now as for 2 or 3 charges . . . usually the 1st one is a mistake, now I say for that reason that it shouldn't be so, but the second is they don't know how to change just yet, & the 3rd is the point they have no intentions of changing usually . . . but, that is the usual psycology that I have learned.
