Aren't these the same people who quote the Federalist Papers as if they were the absolute and final word on the function of government, and not merely one side of a messy argument?

To be fair, the SOTU Address last night was a Clintonian move. It slid Obama directly into ground that the GOP used to occupy. It was populist, it was filled with ideas and programs that the GOP used to tout, and now that the Kenyan Commie-Pinko-Fascist-Jew Hater-Muslim Thug Extraordinaire suggested them, they have to be against them. To be fair, he probably should have included notes about apple pie, football, and NASCAR to watch the Lockstep Elite come down against such things as well.

If he's fer it, we'us be ag'in it!

And that's the problem. It's not about what is best for the nation, it's about who is suggesting it. Time to get off the team mentality at this point. It's not about sides, except Americans standing with Americans, and doing the right thing for our posterity. Anything else? Just games and more games...

Wow, thirteen separate colonies deciding to mutually aid and support one another in an uprising against the largest military power on the planet, but that isn't collectively shared goals. A few years later, those same (now) states gather together and hammer out a document that collectively shares power amongst very disparate economies and political philosophies, but that isn't working toward a collectively shared goal. Eighty years later, they split, declare war on one another and both sets of competing states collectively unite toward the mutual goal of winning, but that doesn't count. After the war, the same states who tried very hard to kill one another find a way to become one nation again, that of course does not count as collective action and shared goals. Through the Great Depression and into the WW2, no one ever worked toward a mutual goal, sacrificing comforts, money, not to mention their very lives...NONE of that is collective effort?

Wow, did I really not understand what I learned in history.

Oh, wait, that is why Republicans keep trying to destroy education, so people will actually believe the bullshiat they spin.
