Apple Inc was a standout in what has otherwise been a fairly lackluster earnings season. So far, 58 percent of companies have beat forecasts while at this stage in past earnings seasons, 70 percent topped estimates.

I don't get it. Wouldn't 100% meeting estimates be the baseline and anything over be a bonus? If 58% beat estimates and the remaining 42% were at or below then wouldn't that be a good thing if we assume the estimates have any value?

And that's not even getting into the baseline. How do you know analysts weren't overly pessimistic last year or overly optimistic this year? This is a very mushy metric.

Can you imagine if all the "bleeding edge" apple consumers took that money, kept their existing stuff (which works fine) for a couple years, and invested the difference in Apple stock?
Then, they'd be rich, and they'd REALLY be insufferable.
So count your blessings.
