It'd be too hard to engage in any level of critical thinking. It's easier to take pot shots at places based on stereotypes and that laugh at one's own perceived cleverness in the glow of the monitor.

I'm from Indy originally and it's interesting to hear how, as the focus is placed on the area, people on here portray it as some sort of third world backwater. Certainly they're developing this image based on one subset of the population that stuck out to them or has been prominently portrayed in the media. The same is the case with the East Coast. If you live out there, you've been characturized as loud, elitist, and whiny regardless of who you are as an individual. Sorry about your luck.

I thought it used to be one week, too. Did some quick research (pro-football-reference is a great site) and it turns out that after the 1993, 1999, and 2002 seasons the Super Bowl was played just one week after the conference championships.

Those are all good points. If money isn't an issue and tickets make themselves available why not. I was thinking more along the lines of fans whose Life Dream is to see their team in the Superbowl for whom the 2k-4k ticket price is significant.

It happens every year. When it happens in NY or Boston, it is reported by news sources that people actually read.

The Super Bowl has never been about fans. If it was about fans, it'd be played in a home stadium.

Indy isn't a bad town. Not the greatest, but not bad at all. Wish I could be there to see all the north east people's amazement at the prices. Sure there will ne plenty of price gouging, but by normal east coast standards, it will still be cheap as hell.

The good news for Pats and Giants fans is that because the SB is being played in a shiathole city that nobody wants to go to, I would bet that a lot of those corporate sponsors/friends of the NFL that get those tickets instead of the true fans will just try to sell them rather than go to the game and freeze their asses off.

When the SB is in either a warm location or a "fun" city (New Orleans), the higher-ups at Visa, Papa Johns or Pepsi will love to go down there, enjoy the week of festivities, and get a great ticket to a game they mostly don't care about. But Indy? Are you kidding me? I bet a lot of them will unload their ticket. We saw this same phenomenon a few years ago, when the game was in the nuclear wasteland known as Detroit, and also featured a shiatty matchup that nobody wanted to see; I remember reading stories about people getting seats on the 40 yard line for $800.

I wouldn't expect this year to be quite that bad, because Indy, while still a shiathole, is better than Detroit, and the game matchup is much more compelling. But I'd bet that tickets can be had, and it wont cost you your entire 401k to procure them.

Unfortunately this requires one to be an active participant in their consumption. I know that's asking a lot of people.
