Oh yeah this seems fair: The teams playing in the Superbowl get to split 35% of the available seats at the Stadium to offer to their season ticket holders and players-and that's after the league takes 12,000 seats off the top

The minute two east coast teams qualified, I knew there would be two weeks of wailing butt-hurt over perceived injustices and problems, because the venue is someplace not warm and someplace midwestern. Lets see, we've had 3 days so far, and 3 days worth of upsettedness. Its remarkable that east coast people can somehow find Indianapolis on a map, much less put up with "possibly not enough 5 star hotels" or now its "unfair" seating (which is probably the same as its been every year).
East coast fans, since somehow you lucked into winning this year, can you possibly manage not to whine about it ? Or would that be against the ways of your people?

I don't think it's whining to point out that the NFL "comps" itself more tickets (12,000+) than it gives to either team (9,000) to split between the team, the player's families, and the teams season ticket holders.
That's seriously farked up in my opinion

The market will sort this out on it's own: The fans can just build their own stadium and host their own Super Bowl.

Seems to me that there are a bunch of people who want to come to your cold-ass cow-town, but can't seem to get tickets because the NFL comps itself more tickets than it gives to the teams.

It'd be too hard to engage in any level of critical thinking. It's easier to take pot shots at places based on stereotypes and that laugh at one's own perceived cleverness in the glow of the monitor.
I'm from Indy originally and it's interesting to hear how, as the focus is placed on the area, people on here portray it as some sort of third world backwater. Certainly they're developing this image based on one subset of the population that stuck out to them or has been prominently portrayed in the media. The same is the case with the East Coast. If you live out there, you've been characturized as loud, elitist, and whiny regardless of who you are as an individual. Sorry about your luck.

The only way Redskins will get into the Super Bowl is over Dan Snyder's dead body.
Probably wouldn't hurt to change the name either, which I believe was coined by Boston as a sort of spinoff of the Boston Braves.

I thought it used to be one week, too. Did some quick research (pro-football-reference is a great site) and it turns out that after the 1993, 1999, and 2002 seasons the Super Bowl was played just one week after the conference championships.

From what I've read the Redskins were once called the Boston Braves (in honor of the baseball team since they shared the same stadium). The football Braves then moved to Fenway Park and changed their name to the Redskins to honor the Red Sox, and they kept the name when they moved to Washington.

Because your company gave you tickets.
Because your friend who's a Executive for a SB sponsor has tickets and invited you.
Because you are a die hard season ticket holder of either team.
Because you are rich and live on the East Coast (but then I repeat myself) and are a fan of NYG or NE.
But there is no draw to Indianapolis in the winter. I mean, unless you want to troll for Midwestern hipster ass in Broadripple. They also have lots of chain restaurants, which a Manhattanite could indulge in for the first time.

Here is an article from 05' that breaks it down easily.
http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/playoffs/2005/02_01_05_ tix/
Indy isn't a bad town. Not the greatest, but not bad at all. Wish I could be there to see all the north east people's amazement at the prices. Sure there will ne plenty of price gouging, but by normal east coast standards, it will still be cheap as hell.
Why Would I Read the Article
2012-01-25 12:20:45 PM
The good news for Pats and Giants fans is that because the SB is being played in a shiathole city that nobody wants to go to, I would bet that a lot of those corporate sponsors/friends of the NFL that get those tickets instead of the true fans will just try to sell them rather than go to the game and freeze their asses off.
When the SB is in either a warm location or a "fun" city (New Orleans), the higher-ups at Visa, Papa Johns or Pepsi will love to go down there, enjoy the week of festivities, and get a great ticket to a game they mostly don't care about. But Indy? Are you kidding me? I bet a lot of them will unload their ticket. We saw this same phenomenon a few years ago, when the game was in the nuclear wasteland known as Detroit, and also featured a shiatty matchup that nobody wanted to see; I remember reading stories about people getting seats on the 40 yard line for $800.
I wouldn't expect this year to be quite that bad, because Indy, while still a shiathole, is better than Detroit, and the game matchup is much more compelling. But I'd bet that tickets can be had, and it wont cost you your entire 401k to procure them.

Nope. The were the Boston Braves originally, but the Name "Redskins" came from the nickname of the Head coach at the time they moved to Washington, who was the first Native American head coach in NFL history, and the only one till Dan Synder hired Jim Zorn a few years back. Look, I know Indy is not the greatest place on earth, but don't you think that's a bit extreme? Downtown is gradually becoming a pretty neat place that has locally owned bars/restaurants, is compact, and easy to walk around. With some planning ahead, there's plenty to do (and drink) in Indy over the course of a long weekend without resorting to chains (or domestics). Unfortunately this requires one to be an active participant in their consumption. I know that's asking a lot of people.

The rest of the quote you didn't show also mentions going to the game and freezing their asses off but doesn't bother to mention that it's a dome, so no freezing will be involved. Considering that both the insult to the city and the freezing were in the very first sentence, you can safely ignore the whole post.

Not dome, retractable roof. I had the RCA dome in mind for some reason (I'm old). My point still stands. The roof will likely be closed.
