I've always felt they should be better armed.

I agree. Donate to your local shelters if you wish to help, or to local groups. The Salvation Army conditions a lot of their help on forcing the homeless or needy to accept their religious teachings. There's a reason why it's the "SALVATION" army.

Grenades are about the only thing I'd donate to them.

Why not? They are an army, right? Okay okay, they're a religious organization, but wouldn't that still include the Holy Hand Grenade?

I dropped a bomb in the toilet at a Salvation Army once.

Now that it"s safe, can they sell it?

My charitible donations go to Children's Oncology Services. If you're looking for a charity to donate to, this is an easy one to feel good about.

http://www.onestepcamp.org/

They run a lot of programs (like summer camp) for kids who are battling cancer. Their mission statement: "Children's Oncology Services, Inc. (COSI) believes that a diagnosis of cancer should not prevent a child from experiencing the simple joys of childhood."

Really? I bought some cheap golf clubs from there so we could play street golf (involves hitting beer cans with golf clubs while really drunk) and never heard any Jesus gibberish

WHAT IF JESUS ATE HIMSELF
WOULD HE BE BETTER THAN THE BREAD HE JUST ATE?

They have denied unmarried couples from sleeping in the same room in homeless shelters among other silliness. In other countries - they are more politically active - arguing against same-sex marriage laws for example. In the US - they like to keep their bigotry under the radar.

My town has several Good Wills and one Salvation Army store. The better stuff tends to be found at the Good Will but I have found some wonderful bargains at the SA store. There was no preaching in their store and its a great place to buy cheap clothes and books. I don't care if they get my money for supporting their store. In many towns, including mine, they are one of the few places poor people can purchase decent items for low prices. They certainly are not getting rich on what they charge for goods in their store.

WHY WOULD YOU HAVE A COUPLE IF U HAD NO MONEY. I DONT HAVE A COUPLE CAUSE I DONT HAVE $300,000 IN THE BANK. WHICH IS THE MINIMUM AMOUNT FOR A FAMILY.

Because your local shelters need hand grenades too.

I thought they were the militant wing of the Salvation Army.

FTA:

After almost two hours of investigating at 655 N. Military Trail, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Crew said the grenade was safe.

Two hours?

Any more proof needed that cops are farking r-tards?

I was at a bible study at a Sally Adult Rehab Center last night, so am getting a kick...

All you have to say is "I've lost everything' and they'll let you stay there. Better food than at the City Mission, I hear.

The ARC isn't an accredited rehab though. They send you to a local rehab for counselling sessions. A freind of mine is an intake coordinator there. One guy was pitching a fit:

"You gotta let me out of here!"
"The door's not locked."
"But the cops will arrest me if I leave!"
"I know."
"You gotta let me out of here!"
"The door's not locked."

I'm not fond of guys being forced into treatment when they don't want it. Somehow, remaining in 'the program' there is a condition of some guys' probation.

I personally know a couple guys who got well there. But not many. I don't know their stats for long term sobriety.

"Well, Andy, I took that grenade down to the grange, and donated it, just like you said. I put it into the Salvation Army box they got down there."

"Barney, I said I wanted you to take that grenade down to the range and detonate it..."

Just went to a SA family store yesterday, and a GW store today. My sister in law would be horrified at the mere thought of wearing used clothing, "you don't know where that's been"! But I have to admit it has broadened my clothing styles for a fraction of the price of new. You look enough, you can find some high end clothing in perfect shape, some even have the cleaner's tag on it.

'Cause everyone knows the poor need grenades.

The Christmas invasion? The Doctor already won that war, just watch out for suspicious department store mannikins.

I remember growing up & being too poor to even get clothes from Wal~Mart . . . (since my parents worked at Wal~Mart) SA might not be as good as Good Will on quality, but that's not to what they do, it's the requirements for Good Will to have certain quality for their donations, so they can overprice what they're getting for free, so, all in all, anyone who's so bothered by the preachings at SA, just don't care for the saving of their money . . . While you're at it, & sitting there wondering why you're broke . . . Don't wine to me about it!
