It's about what this president has already done. The president's policies are now firmly in place. It's his economy now. We're living under the Obama economy."

Check and mate, pal. You just gave Obama the election.

Every economic indicator for the past 2 years shows the economy has continued to grow, and unemployment continues to fall.

If Mitch tries to take a shred of credit for anything good that happens from now until November, the Dems should pull this statement out and shove it down the Turtle's flabby-chinned maw.

Sadly that only matters to people who still like facts over the general feeling they get in their gut when they look at Obama.

FTA: "It's hard not to feel a sense of disappointment even before tonight's speech is delivered because while we don't yet know all the specifics, we do know the goal," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said on the Senate floor today, "the goal isn't to conquer the nation's problems. It's to conquer Republicans. The goal isn't to prevent gridlock, but to guarantee it."

I watched the SOTU and thought the close was most telling. President Obama stressed teamwork, as demonstrated by the US military, between those of different beliefs and parties would make our country succeed. He was basically saying he would work with the Republicans as he tried last year.

And I remember last year, particularly the summer. When the GOP-led House mucked around with the debt ceiling, creating a phantom crisis, the stock market dropped, our nation's credit rating dropped, all because the Republicans were playing politics with our country's financial well-being. Last December's showdown on the payroll tax cut was the same. And the GOP got their asses handed to them.

This year is going to be intense. I doubt the GOP will play nice because it's they who cherish power and personal wealth more than the common good of all Americans. Wish Republicans would grow up and accept a scary black man as our President and that he's pretty good at the job.

this, from a guy who has repeatedly said that the number-one job of republicans is to make obama a one-term president?

the hypocrisy emanating from the GOP on a daily basis is staggering, verging on surreal.

If Obama wanted to solve a problem, he wouldn't be running for reelection.

Unless he ends up running against Rick Santorum, in which case Obama would be the lesser of two problems.

HotWingConspiracy: I don't really have any problem with that. But really, the GOP is doing all the work for him.

This.

The Republicans are so hyped about Obama being black that they really can't do anything but obstruct. I feel that this State of the Union was about giving the Republicans one last chance to start doing the right thing and doing their actual jobs. Obama is very good at goading these sad bigots, and I can't help that the second term might be him rolling over the Republicans, mentioning the four years he gave them to make nice.

That's what I got from Cantor and McConnell's death stares last night. They didn't give a fark about what Obama was saying, but how he was giving them another chance. They really don't know how to play ball with him in any regard. It's like watching an infant box Tyson.

Compounding this douchenozzle with walking garbage pile Rand Paul and with the recent Ark water park tax cut, if the nation decides that dropping a nuclear bomb on Kentucky is the only way to see true advances, as a resident of the state I'd be saddened and fearful for my life, but I'd understand.

2012-01-25 09:18:21 AM
What is possible for the Democrats this summer and fall in the election is to hammer away at the Republicans on the state of the nation at the time Obama took over and where we are now as well as highlight the positions the Republicans have taken over the last two to four years. Damning, indeed. Anyone who is paying attention should be able to look at the facts and make a sound evaluation that the Republicans aren't acting in a way that matches what they stand for.

What will actually happen is that the panty-waisted Democrats will allow the Republicans to set the parameters of the debate, they will constantly be playing defense, and they won't be aggressive enough to win.

Thankfully, the Republican party is putting forward a woeful collection of candidates.

As much as I don't like McConnell, I get what he says. The people of Kentucky really do believe that religion should run this country and he, being an elected official, represents that. That ignorance, though, is why I choose to stay in Kentucky and hopefully bring about some sort of progressive thought.

I had FB friends saying the same shiat; I'll never understand it. I don't like watching stuff like that, so I didn't. I'm pretty sure the "this sucks but I'll watch anyway" approach is single-handedly keeping NBC in business.

I punched him mightily so that my fist blasted through the anal flap and plunged deep into the greasy innards. I grasped his jumbled organs with my frightfully strong hand, and with a single vicious wrench i tore out a massive cluster of shredded filth. The crowd was jubilant. Their cheers unabated deafened, and encouraged me so that i had no choice but to punch again into the ragged hole, to harvest more while he could still scream.
