Wow, I never knew you were a Modmin.Good on you.
Then again, I am lazy with clicking profiles a lot of the time.
I do agree though- folks should post aurora pics- both borealis and australias. Even if they have been posted before.

Me too. When I lived in Seattle, I'd always hoped that I could see them from somewhere nearby. But I never got the chance.
Now in Tokyo, I'm lucky if I can see the stars at all.

If I had told you folks to post aurora snow pics you would have been getting ban hammered

But no other aurora pics. im am dissapointed . you all have mobile phones or cameras

Too far south here.
Quick question:
Just how bad does the solar storms have to be to make auroras all the way down to the equators? Would it have an extremely detrimental effect?

The Carrington Super Flare of 1859 produced Auroras as far south as the Caribbean, but that's a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing.
So yeah, not often, but it's not impossible. As far as I know, intense magnetic storms don't cause any permanent damage to Earth or it's magnetosphere, but they do disrupt electronics.

Are there any studies about how these solar storms affect animals, because my dog was acting batshiat crazy last night, and a little less so tonight. Running around the house, jumping on beds acting like she wants to go outside and play....at 3am last night...12am tonight. She's never done that before.

I don't know about dogs, but I do know that these storms can affect migratory animals, causing them to become confused and lose their sense of direction.

I was hoping they might get as far south as PDX, but it's completely overcast with a bunch of light pollution around here, so I guess it doesn't matter. I wouldn't mind being on Mt. Hood right about now.
