So Gingrich is going to follow Reagan's 11th commandment of not speaking ill of other Republicans to the letter, right?

St. Ronald of Reagan forged iron into steel with his bare hands and defeated the Decepticons for control of the universe. I read about that in Newt's last history book. He makes L. Ron Hubbard seem believable.

Funniest thing about that chart, at least one of RON PAUL's six mentions of Reagan during the debates was to criticize how he handled the guns-for-hostages thingy.

Also, Romney's quote about how Gingrich was mentioned in Reagan's diary only once, for bringing up a stupid idea, was rather amusing.

Well, in all fairness to the founding fathers, they were traitors to their country.

Oh exactly. Any one calling themselves a republican who gets spoken ill about is obvious not a True Republican™, and therefore exempt. Duh!

Right, he said it about those awesome champions of liberty, the Contras. You know, the ones he sold arms to Iran in order to support?

Reagan should have died in prison.

The strange and bizarre thing about this cult of personality that Republicans have created around Reagan is that this is exactly what the Soviet Union did with their leaders. They create this mythical figure that just bears no resemblance to actual history.

FTFA: I - I mean, Mr. Speaker, it was - it was - you talk about all the things you did with Ronald Reagan and - and - and the Reagan revolution and the jobs created during the Reagan years and so forth. I mean, I looked at the Reagan diary. You're mentioned once in Ronald Reagan's diary. And it's - and in the diary, he says you had an idea in a meeting of - of young congressmen, and it wasn't a very good idea, and he dismissed it. That - that's the entire mention.

themindiswatching: So many things we could have impeached/put Reagan in prison for, yet we impeached Clinton for the stupidest shiat.

The reason why impeaching Clinton was a 'mistake' was because it wasn't a matter of national security; it's almost expected for presidents to be able to sleep around, c'mon... him committing adultery wasn't putting the country in danger of anything except headline news. but that's the GOP way.

Meh, not really anything Reagan did was really out of line legally. Just because something you do goes against your stated line of policy doesn't make it illegal.

But yeah, the Clinton shiat was pretty stupid, if that's what you're going for.

"By the end of his term, 138 Reagan administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations. In terms of number of officials involved, the record of his administration was the worst ever."

If you think Reagan never knowingly broke the law, I've got some oceanfront property in AZ to sell you. Like a mafia don, he was just insulated from giving the go ahead, by underlings who fell on their sword for him.

Yeah, and he is just the kind of amoral huckster to want to glorify the years of wanton retardation, outright treason, and fiscally destructive propoganda.

Hint: Every..single..farking..problem with our modern economy can trace its roots to the Reagan republican theories that

a)Debt = wealth, the bigger your debt, the richer a person you are, so consume, consume, mortgage, car payments, credit cards, mcmansions
b)shifting the tax burden from the ultra-rich and giant corporations onto middle america, while deregulating and tax bonusing the big guys creates jobs. It doesn't. It never has, and it never will.
c)Shifting focus of our economy away from producing tangible items into financial manipulation and service.

History says our civilization is about to crumble. But republicans have Newty newt rewriting that for them, so whatever.

I'm definitely not voting for him after this.

Its been said already, but I think Reagan would not be conservative or wacky enough for this ass-clown, double-speak, traitor party now. I think Reagan might even be disgusted with our own business and how they send jobs overseas and destroy jobs here to make even more money for the over-wealthy. He might call on them to act more like they were part of this country..... Never thought I'd say it, but please bring back Reagan. At least he had some common sense and understood we needed ALL of us to get some of the pie.

I'm doing my best to avoid talking to the guy at work who constantly sends around e-petitions demanding Reagan be put on Mount Rushmore, the $20 bill, the $10 bill (not sure if that's to be done simultaneously) and that the U.S. Capitol Building be renamed the Reagan Capitol.

He spent $30 for a "Reagan '84" bumper sticker (that goes for maybe $5 on eBay) and his cube is filled with Reagan swag.

I suspect his true fondest wish is to drive his Reagan Motors SUV (the Rugged Reagan) to his home in the Reagan Estates subdivision of Reaganburg in Reagan County, Reagansylvania and have dinner with his wife and two children, his son Ron (a senior at Reagan High) and his daughter Reagan (a sophomore at Reagan College).

The funny thing is: nobody is saying "Hey, let's make this guy a front-runner for the GOP nomination!"
