It's about time others pay that fee.

At least they didn't have to pay the $325 Early Departure fee they would have been charged if the plane had crashed.

Jesus Christ. There are 2,241 comments on that article, mostly from people talking about how Kenyan and Marxist Obama is.

On an article about a farking solar flare.

This country is really stupid, and really deranged. As unhinged as I've ever seen it.

I swear, I refuse to believe people are that stupid. I'm a registered independent and honestly don't really like anyone currently in office but damn, people are nuts.

Also, since I may...or may not work for delta...I'm getting a kick

How many inches of solar are expected?

The 1800 election was supposed to be incredibly vicious. From Wiki:

Federalists spread rumors that the Republicans were radicals who would ruin the country (based on the Republican support for the French Revolution). In 1798, George Washington had complained "that you could as soon scrub the blackamoor white, as to change the principles of a professed Democrat; and that he will leave nothing unattempted to overturn the Government of this Country." Meanwhile, the Republicans accused Federalists of destroying republican values, not to mention political support from immigrants, with the Alien and Sedition Acts, some of which were later declared unconstitutional after their expiration by the Supreme Court; they also accused Federalists of favoring Britain in order to promote aristocratic, anti-republican values.

Replace a couple of names in there, and you have this election. From people who have studied it, nothing yet has topped the 1800 election in viciousness. I think this one will.

How do they predict these solar storms? If all electromagnetic waves travel at the speed of light in a vacuum, then it seems to me that we wouldn't see the solar flares until they reached earth, at which time, it would be too late to predict them, right?

No, those are in metric inches.

The plasma emitted from a CME doesn't travel at the speed of light. It typically takes 3-4 days to reach the Earth (hence the warning).

You mean arrival fee, right? They didn't fly through a wormhole and take off before they got there.

Not that I entirely trust Fox for accuracy, but my cell phone did lose its data connection somewhere around 10 or 10:30 EST this morning. Which figured, because that made me really curious about whether the solar storm was doing it, and I couldn't readily look it up. (I blamed the sun, anyway.)

Since this story links to Fox, I think we can safely assume an over-representation of the complete farking moron demographic in the commenting population.

Fine by me if we keep the airplane in "air" and not "incandescant plasma"

You do realize that that was the "Faux News" website

The people that are regulars on that site are about as "unhinged" as you can get. If we still had lunatic asylums, most of them would be patients.
