Occasionally TFD threads are totally worth it and I miss them. Unfortunately, I am not clever enough to frequently generate sponsorships. I am biding my time until TF fills up with more people who have no idea who Mitch Hedberg was and I'll start slipping his bits into my comments here on the main page hoping to snag sponsorships before getting flamed by farkers who know who he was.

Not exactly. I mean, yes, it's better to never use them in the first place. But if you're using plastic grocery bags in place of, say, small trash bags for your bathroom bin, you're cutting down on the amount of plastic you're using.

It's definitely not great, but it's better than sending them straight to the landfill.

I don't pay for it, but when I've been gifted it I love to see the submission queue. There are some great articles that never get greened.

I've been in TFD but most of the conversation in there seemed really cliquish. The sense of humour and snark wasn't the same in there as out here either. I can't really say I enjoyed the experience, although perhaps if I got to know some of the people better it would make a difference.
