Many people recorded this from different angles and at different times. The thing went a pretty far distance.

that was my first thought, but the light refraction caused by a malfuntioning cloaking device would have telltale markers in the theta range, which is clearly not the case here. it is more likely a leaky coolant inducer when they tried to make the jump to hyperspace. you see that all the time.
