I don't know much about Steve Jobs, but I'm going to guess that his parents weren't trying to "raise the next Steve Jobs". How about you just be a good parent for your child and be happy that you have a little mini-you running around and enjoying life?

Make sure you teach the kid to rip off his best friend for money, and that it's ok to park in handicapped parking spots. Oh, and make sure that they exploit a legal loophole so they never legally put a license plate on their car. And never donate to charity. And take credit for the hard work of thousands of engineers as someone who invented something.
People need to get over Steve Jobs. He wasn't that important. Its not like he came up with the cure for cancer or something.

And I sure don't want my kids to grow up to be selfish, inconsiderate adults who (literally) cry when they don't get their way, take credit for the ideas of others, and treat family and subordinates like nuisances.

How many Michael Jordan's are there killed in gang violence, or Larry Birds who are now working middle management.
It is less the person and more the convergence of an infinite number of life circumstances that allow someone capable to take advantage of their gift. There are already people out there who could do as good, if not better, job as Steve Jobs or Warren Buffet.... but circumstances won't propel them into stardom.

Somehow, in spite of this genius-mania, U.S. students are struggling to keep up with their international peers. Our children's performance lags behind as we watch countries like Finland, Singapore, and South Korea churn out the next generation of math and science whizzes,
Except that just because this lady runs into one mother on a playground, doesn't mean that most parents are this way. It's not a stretch to say that many, many parents in america could care less about their kids education.

Tesla was employed by Edison and create alternating current (well the first viable ac commercial system) a direct competitor to DC, Edison's baby. Edison would have no part of it and shoved Tesla out. Tesla went to go work for Edison's main competitor, Westinghouse, and brought AC to market pushing the inferior DC tech out of the market. Edison ran engineering parks were he employed others and often patented and profited off their ideas. Edison was more of a businessman, venture capitalist and showman to Tesla's more inventive, socially awkward (he was OCD), hacker-eqse persona

I'm no Steve Jobs, but for what it's worth.....
My parents always made a deal with me when I was a kid. If my bedtime was 7:00, I could stay up until 7:30 if was reading. No music, no TV, no toys. Today, I'm a technical editor and I make a good living. I'm not saying that rule caused me to choose the path I chose, but it probably influenced me.

TFA missed this one:
"As early as possible, teach your child to steal things from the Asian kids at school. They will often have fun, cool gadgets that they picked up at a local market or, perhaps, that a relative has sent them from overseas. Instruct your child to re-package that product and then pretend that he or she actually invented it."

same with Ford, he opposed the model A, he lost to GM because they allowed for customization and factory orders and was a huge supporter of the Nazi's. His sons pretty much shoved his senile crotchety butt out of the way

Well, you start this exercise by putting on your race-blinder goggles and then you shove everyone through a "no-child-left-behind" (aka "no-child-gets-ahead") public school regimen of 12 years of their life and then you wonder where the gems are, amirite?
If you honestly think that unionized public sektor employees can teach individualism to students then you're sadly mistaken.
The way to raise the next steve jobs is to dismantle the public school system. You have to stop trying to teach Algebra to 14 year old girls. You have to stop focusing your attention on the bottom 20% of the students, and focus your efforts on the top 20%.

An iron pyramid is connected to a 9-volt battery circuit. We're going to be feeding an AC and a DC current so the battery itself is connected to the mains. We're working with AC/DC because its heavy metal.

Pretty good trollin' there, Skippy! I guess the reason Apple's employees are so loyal is that Steve Jobs was selfish and inconsiderate, who took credit for their work. (I guess you've never seen the design team credits for their products) And I guess that is why is was so loved by thousands of people who were honored that he was their friend. And that family that he treated like nuisances rushed to his bedside because they wanted front-row seats to see him die. It's probably why Bill Gates said that Jobs was the most brilliant mind in his industry.
Apple doesn't need for you to buy their products. They became the world's biggest and most profitable technology company without your business.
