I guess your first instinct is to hold onto the leash but how the hell do you calmly watch the doors close when your dog's on the other side of them? And I like how the girl wouldn't let go of the dog when he came back. She was probably like, "Why should you get your dog back after you nearly killed him?"

/Poor puppy. Glad he's okay.

I'm a bad, bad person.

I laughed.

Though I'm sure I wouldn't have if the dog was injured.

Guys, I'm the biggest dog lover of them all, and that made me chuckle, too. I feel terrible for it, but I did chuckle.

I had something close happen to me. I live in an elevator building and I used to drape my dog's leash over his back when I got into the elevator. One day I did that and he decided to shake, tossing the loop end off his back and just barely outside the door as it was closing. Dog inside with me, leash on. End of leash outside, door closed, elevator about to move. I popped his collar off and ziiipppp the leash and collar disappeared down the elevator shaft.

I got into my apartment and broke down crying it was such a close call. The incident still gives me nightmares.

I guess he thought the safety feature on elevator doors would be triggered by a leash?

Don't most elevators have that big red emergency-stop plunger-button? Or is that hooked to the same circuit as the door-close button?

I'm confident those are just in the movies featuring make-out sessions within elevators. These often involve pizza delivery drivers.

Why is this just now making it to Fark?

Nope. The college I went to did not allow co-ed canoodling anywhere on campus. No closed doors when a member of the opposite sex was visiting your dorm. No smooching in the hallways. Nothing.

But what they didn't know was that in the elevator that linked the kitchen to the third-floor academic area, you could push the emergency stop button in just far enough that the elevator stopped moving, but not far enough to make the alarm go off. I discovered it by accident one night (hit it just right with an AV cart). My girlfriend and I made a lot of "emergency stops" that semester. But then I made the mistake of telling a classmate about it, and he told two more, and they told two more, and so on. And then it became against the rules for students to use that elevator.

I guess he thought the leash would trigger the emergency open sensors and, by the time the doors closed, he just panicked. Had he hit the emergency stop before the doors closed, they would have stopped.

Was your college in a time machine that took you back to the 1800's or something? Damn, I'd rather lie down in a shark's mouth than go to a school that uptight.

Not passing judgement, that just sounds crazy to me.

Note to your school: put young, horny guys and girls in the same general vicinity and they are going to fark no matter what your rules are.

It wouldn't surprise me if that was the first time he took his dog on an elevator. It looked like he was just routinely getting on an elevator by himself and completely forgot that he needed to make sure the dog was on the correct side as well.

I wonder if that dog had a break-away collar on. That might be what saved his life.

How does one make a gif out of the dog going up?

2012-01-24 02:01:41 PM
I thought it as fake by his non-chalance way of standing in the elevator as the door closed and then his over-emoting as the elevator went up.

HOWEVER after seeing the rest of the clip where the dog gets dragged to the ceiling and then dropped like a rock I knew it was real.

Funny, too, in a 'that's-gonna-leave-a-mark' kinda way.

Poor dog. I hope that bastard gets nailed for trying to kill his dog in a cruel manner.

2012-01-24 02:56:21 PM
I like how the dog jumped into the next open elevator because not going into an elevator would cause oneself to be hurled violently towards the ceiling. lol

The way he panics as soon as the elevator starts moving makes me think that he thought the leash would be enough to trip the door sensor and make it open again.

Bullies have enough trouble as it is, without negligent jackass owners trying to kill them. Jeez.

The dog probably follows him in every single day without fail, he just assumed his pooch did what he always did and he was day dreaming...but the dog got distracted by the woman coming out/in in the hallway and well, there ya go.

The 'zOMG he should be killed!' crowd really need to get a grip. Shiat happens, even to you perfect people out there

No shiat. This is obviously an accident. You can tell by the anguish the owner goes through when the doors close. I liken this to locking your keys in your car and for a split second realizing you're doing it, but somehow your body disobeys your commands to stop shutting the door and automatically follows through. I could almost read this guys mind, "oh he's just sitting there...*Doors close*.....Holy Shiat! NOOOOOOOO! Fark me! NOOOOOO" Glad the mutt was OK. But either way, from now on, take the stairs, buddy.

Actually... I would think at that point that it would be very easy.

Now.... getting the dog into the corridor where the elevators are located might get your nuggets bitten off.
