As much as dog fighting is bad, the simple fact is that if anyone does anything for a long time it's considered tradition and then from that tradition it becomes part of the culture.

The problem is that typically it is a man with multiple wives. Very rarely, if ever, is it a woman with multiple husbands. This leads to men with many wives, while other men are stuck with none. This leads to young men being outcast, as it is less competition for the men with many wives. Angry, sexually frustrated young men is not something a society wants.

I guess what I'm getting at is... is there any actual advantage to having all 3 women being legally recognized as wives? And if so, could the advantages be obtained by splitting up in multiple 2-person marriages?
