Really? You think Edwards got a pass in the media?!?

I think we've found a huge problem with conservatives. Their memories are absolute trash.

That hasn't been established by their constant rewriting of history? Didn't Gingrich or someone get offended when a debate moderator pointed out how much Reagan raised taxes?

it's not that. they now have a completely alternate reality to reality. in their world, edwards was lionized as a hero by the liberal media. just like in their world barack obama is a communist/fascist, empty-suit/illuminatus, socialist/wall st. shill, muslim/radical black christian.

they live and breathe in a hermetically sealed media bubble.

Did anyone ever think that the Liberal Media is waiting to hit him on it after he gets the nomination so it will ensure an Obama win? if the Liberals really did control the media, that's what they would do.

WTF Indeed: Did anyone ever think that the Liberal Media is waiting to hit him on it after he gets the nomination so it will ensure an Obama win? if the Liberals really did control the media, that's what they would do.

The only folks who are going to hammer the current crop of Republican candidates are the folks who profit from it: another Republican candidate.

They don't have anything else. There's an old law school saying that goes something like: When you have the law on your side, argue the law. When you have the facts on your side, argue the facts. When you have neither on your side, pound the table and talk really loud.

When they get scooped by the National farking Enquirer? Yeah, the media might have failed a bit there, wouldn't you say?

I'm happy that the media does at least do part of its job well, but damned if they don't love framing the guilty - in other words, they have plenty of other legitimate dirt on Newt so why bother with this he-said/she-said shiat about open marriages?

It appeals to the salacious. That's true no matter who the target is or what political leanings they have.

Edwards was running for VP, and after Bush won in 2004, he was pretty much done in politics.

The only people who cared about Edwards' problems was the National Enquirer, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity.

Did you hear? John Edwards is running for President, and he's number 1 in the polls.

Is this another one of those threads where people pretend not to understand what drives the media?

Get out the fainting couches.

1. The media is a left-wing conspiracy.
2. Just about everything most of us know about anything is fed to us by "the media".
3. The right-wingers still have to work overtime to make themselves look stupid.

How can you blame Newt from wanting to upgrade?

If your television starts to get blurry, the colors are off or just takes too long to warm up, and you're not sure how much longer it'll last, you're going to get yourself a new television. Sure you might keep the old television, maybe put it in the spare bedroom for those times when you don't feel like going downstairs to use the new TV. The new TV has a crisper image, bigger controls and more inputs. Yes, your new TV will know that you still occasion go back to use the old one, but it doesn't care because it knows you'll soon be back. The old TV should be happy it's still getting some of your time. You'll probably even feel like upgrading your gaming console and replace that x box. What's wrong with that?

2012-01-24 01:35:52 PM
It must be rough on Newt to have the whole world stacked against him when clearly he's never done anything wrong and nothing has ever been his fault.

Because it's a direct example of his brash hypocrisy. He has spent his career lauding "family values" and remonstrating Democrats for their infidelities, all while engaging in some extremely scummy behavior in his own relationships.

Is it just me, or did that part of the article trip anyone else's Mommy and/or Daddy Issues meter?

It's a joke from Elder Scrolls. One of the things the various guards mutter as you pass them is "I used to be an adventurer like you and then i took an arrow in the knee."

As it's been mentioned, it makes him a huge hypocrite when it comes to his campaign platform and in how he wants to use the government to impose his idea of morals on us all while violating those same morals pretty consistently. If he weren't running on a campaign of family values and using the government to deny millions of Americans the right to marry (and all the other benefits that come with that) to "protect" the sanctity of marriage, I wouldn't care less about his personal relationships.
