They should work at getting rid of all of the douchebags that hang around the store and pretend to be writing novels. Sitting there with a laptop does not make you cool, we know you're not writing a book, and you're probably unemployed so just drop the whole act.

I am always in favor for the sale of spirits though, more power to 'em.

But it's not just beer, it's beer with cinnamon and foamed soy.

I used to get margaritas from Taco Cabana. It was legal, don't worry.

Surely some independent brewery has already experimented with coffee-flavored beer.

One good thing-now ALL of the pretentious hipsters can go to the same place and waste each other's time holding up the line.

"I'll have a half lager, double-shot of extra-dark Bavarian malt, light on the foam, Albanian golden yeast hefeweizen. Is that made with tettnang hops? And I'd like it chilled to 39.5 degrees, extra yeast."

Any word on what beers they'll be carrying? Will it be a nationwide deal or local/regional things?

What are they carrying in the pilot stores?

HotIgneous Intruder: The drive-thru bar: An idea whose time has come.

In SE Texas, there are drive-in liquor stores. You pull in with an empty cooler in the back and they'll fill it up and top you off with ice. Just pay and keep drivin'.

I lived in Barrie, ON. Before they closed the brewrey there was a beer store that had a drive through, with the added bonus of being open until midnight. Of course, we were usually to drunk to move by 10, so thankfully there was also a taxi company that my buddies knew a driver that would make the run for us

$30 a beer? Isn't that less than what george steinbrenner charges during a day game?

Wyoming has drive-through liquor stores. My brother used to work at one and she became good friends with the sheriff. He would site across the street with his lights off. My brother would sell the alcohol then give a signal to the cop if he though the person was drunk and then they would get pulled over. The store policy was pretty much "I don't care how drunk they are, sell them the booze first then call the cops."

How does a place that sells millions of dollars worth of coffee have such awful bagels? I'll never go to Starbucks in the morning becuase if I don't have time to make my own coffee, I didn't have time to eat breakfast either, but all their food is so bad.

Wife got some coupons for Starbucks, neither of us like coffee. We go in for 'Hot Chocolate', we get this bitter, luke-warm substance. Yuck!

They don't make them -- they buy them from someone local or regional. And I'm sure they care more about price than quality.

I first saw a drive through liquor store in the 80's. I think it was in Pensacola, FL. Now, get off my lawn!

We have drive thru dairies in So Cal that sell booze. Same concept, basically. They don't do all the work for you, though. You want ice? Buy a bag, they'll toss it in your trunk.

There are a few beers out there that are more than $30. Stop by Monk's Cafe in Philly sometime and you'll see.

This runs about $75 for a 24oz bottle

You do understand that most people drive to the liquor store, right? As it is most customers drive there, park the car out front, buy their stuff, go back to the car, and drive home. Does it make a difference if a liquor store makes it more convenient by eliminating the need to park the car and walk inside?

The above mentioned coffee beers and others like my local fave Keegan Ales' Joe Mamma's Milk
Baileys and Coffee

Cafes in Europe tend to have beer & wine too. It's a good thing, really.

And TFA specifically says it's a $5 beer. Not really outlandish, is it?

Some New Hampshire state liquor stores are on limited access highways where it's difficult or impossible to reach them without driving.

When they started selling beer at their Capitol Hill location, Schultz himself came by to personally thank those in the shop. I was eating across the street and decided to stop by and see what Howie thought of my new shirt...
