To know whether he was a deserter you would have to prove intent, AWOL would actually cover it since he was gone regardless of his reasons.

I mean if Bush was actually present for duty, someone would certainly be able to confirm so by now, yet out of large number of personnel at his unit, nobody has stepped forward.

Did you come from the different time line than I did? I remember most people were very differential to McCain's service, and I never remember it being attacked by the Democratic campaign. McCain's record on veterans affairs ironically was pretty crappy, which is one reason why I couldn't vote the man (he was one of the few people to try to stop the post 9/11 GI Bill).

When did that happen? I mean, that lady was at a Republican campaign event, IIRC, but I don't think a Democratic politician was anything other than polite about McCain's service during the 2008 campaign.

Stop that. He volunteered for service, served two tours in Vietnam, and for the second one volunteered for combat duty, during which he was wounded in action and cited for bravery. No one with actual military service, or with any knowledge of his service, disputes that, unless it's for political purposes and then they're ignoring reality, because party is always more important than principles.

And you wouldn't do that, would you?
