Actually - I gotta say - without know much else about the story; I like this girl a lot.

She's 24. And I haven't seen or heard of her before. Her Dad wasn't pushing her into movies he directed or anything like (like that crappy Karate Kid remake or countless other examples).

How many actors with as much success as Jim Carrey have children who work? And I don't mean some awesome B.S. job I've seen kids get because of their successful parents....but a real job. A regular job.

And instead of getting her Dad and his connections to land her a music deal - she's on American Idol. A *contest* where people get to vote to decide the winner.

Her auditions wasn't really bad, but it wasn't very good either. Semi-decent voice, but absolutely no charisma or presentation skills. Had she not been a celebrity's daughter, there's no way in hell they would have given her that ticket to Hollywood. And Jim Carrey sounded really uncomfortable. It was a really awkward moment.

A friend of mine used to swim competitively in high school. She also used to swim with Jim Carry's daughter.

Miley has the distinct honor of having an off-center grill (ala Tom Cruise) with a few bizarrely shaped nublet teeth, and a pancake face that looks like someone pounded her in the face with a frying pan until all the facial features kind of mushed together. Yea, I like how they had her talking about not wanting to use her family name for success, but there was dialogue about it before the singing. All three seemed pretty uncomfortable evaluating her performance and trying to justify the yes vote to themselves. No way anyone else with the identical performance makes it.
