That's OK. He's doing his laundry.

Does anyone actually believe he and Ann do their own laundry? I find the very presumption that we'd buy this to be insulting.

Massachusetts residents may remember when he tried to take the subway to show he was just one of us. He left the impression of a confused rich guy who didn't know how to use transportation for the common man.

And it's another deficiency he has against Gingrich. Gingrich is far superior at separating whites and coloreds.

The highlight of his Governorship, right there...

Exactly.

We all know he is ultra-wealthy.... he doesn't need to prove he is part of the "common folk"... as you said, that picture comes off as disingenuous. And, just don't make statements like how $400k is "not very much" money... even if it is to you. I mean, even to people most of us would consider "rich", $400k is more than "not very much" money.

I think we've all known a person who wanted so desperately to be accepted that they tried too hard. This is Mitt Romney.

And character and party issues aside, it just doesn't make sense. You're neck-and-neck with Gingrich, managing a ton of campaign money, making a ton of appearances, and doing a ton of interviews. He's not doing a load of wash. You have a handler for that.

I probably would, because I enjoy it. At least the laundry part.

But if I was born with his kind of money, probably not. Its a little hard to believe he ever had the chance to develop the habit of doing laundry.

There was a greenlit article earlier today that talked of how some longtime supporter of Mitt thought that his gatherings were lacking something- they were boring.

Farkers, Countrymen. I have to explain something to you. All of you. Mormons? They have the most boring gatherings. The. Most. Boring. Ever. Why? They don't drink. They don't smoke. They don't 'party' in any sense. They don't swear (at least not in front of each other). And they don't have any funny ass stories related to any of those.

My family is mormon. My gf has said to me many times that they all need a good stiff drink to loosen up. And they are a typical mormon family.

You could never have a beer with Mitt. Nor would you be able to see stogies lit up in the same venue. The issue with him is that he's far too uptight and seems unable to relax. And that really does seem to be a trait that a lot of mormons share.

This is what, I think, is going to continue to bother GOP and moderate voters. His personality is so awful. A stuffy rich, white person who can't seem to relax- AND is desperate to show he he is just like you? It's not working, Mitt.

Making Gingrich the nominee is like a gift to Democrats.

That being said, I wish people would care this much about the congressmen they're electing, since as a whole they have a bigger impact on policy than the president.

Yeah, I've always said, if you only come out to effectively vote for president every 4 years, you might as well be someone who never votes at all.

Your mayor, city councilmen, state representatives, governor, and US House/Senators are vastly more important to your every day personal life than the president.

Yep I remember that it was hilarious. I think in 2008 when Hillary decided to do the common man thing she stopped at a gas station and had a problem with not only pumping gas but the coffeepot. The rich are just so out of touch that when they try to do things we do everyday they look stupid, yet they do it all the time. You would think that before they try to do a stunt like that they would get a little practice in before doing it with cameras rolling.

I love how people rely so much on polls that rarely ask more than 1000 likely voters. In '08, FL had 51% (R) turnout, does that mean there are no more than 2000 likely (R) voters in the state?

I'm baffled, I admit. In what strange dimension are these polls being conducted so that there is any remote possibility of Newt Gingrich being considered a good candidate for the highest office in the land?

It has to be a dimensional shift thing, because generally when there are that many batsh*t insane people gathered in one spot it's called an asylum, not a state.

Funny how Obama edges out Romney and TROUNCES the rest of the GOP field, but fails the "Generic Republican" test.

2012-01-23 02:14:58 PM
Republicans finally caught on to how Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton were the ones who put Mitt Romney up to running on the GOP ticket so that even if Obama loses to the GOP candidate, there will still be a democrat in the White House.

Whether Obama wins or Romney wins, the Democrats will still have their man in the White House. The only way we could lose it is if our guy Romney doesn't get the GOP nomination.

Maybe it's like when a girl brings home the mohawk'd, tattoo'd guy as a "fark you mom and dad!". The people are so sick of how things are, and so bad at expressing it maturely, that they are just going and picking the guy that everyone told them was bad news. They are trying to make a statement about their discontent but not using the best communication method?
