Didn't GTA or something have Obama billboards in it? In-game ads, as long as they're not obtrusive, aren't so bad.

I thought it was gonna be a picture of a garden gnome at a baseball game

But what if I use KDE?

seanwlambert: There was also a racing game (don't remember which) that had product placement on the billboards.

There's a few that do that. The first one that comes to my mind is Burnout Paradise. There are at least three different ads on the billboards. Vizio is one and I don't remember what the other two are.

This is just like putting sponsored dialog in TV shows. All these shows taking 30-45 seconds talking about features of some car instead of proper character or story dialog is bullshiat. You get commercials, or you get in-show ads. Stop trying to eat into the 21/22 minutes we already get per half hour with MORE ads.

If this MMO isn't free or notably cheaper because of the in-game ads... don't do it. Pure profit motive with no consumer benefit... piss off, Blizzard.

I personally prefer XFCE; its layout is similar to Gnome2, even if it has certain niggling limitations (mapping to
Samba shares isn't built into the Thunar file manager, for example). Its also has a low memory footprint without
being functionally minimalist like Openbox.

Wait. What?

Is Titan a casual MMO?

I thought prevailing wisdom was that it would be a shooter MMO?

City of Heroes experimented with ingame ads on billboards around the city, but they seem to have dropped the idea. Possibly because of uninterested advertisers, pissed-off players, or both.

Blizzard also had a job posting for a Console game designer a few months back. and a mobile game one a few years ago. oh no they post jobs that they may or may not ultimately use.

i shall believe it when i see it (in game).

They probably posted the console opening because they just announced that Diablo III will be released on consoles as well. Then, right after they announced the console port, they said they took out some features from Diablo III to "streamline" it. Then right after that announcement, The senior producer of Diablo III quit out of frustration.

I wouldn't be surprise if the release date is pushed back to the end of 2012 so they can release it at the same time for PC and console.

Also Diablo is running into trouble with their real money AH. They dropped it from Korea, and some politicians in Europe are starting to complain that it enables gambling among kids. If it falls through, its going to end up hurting blizzard immensely, as that how they planned on keeping the servers free.

/Streamlining is tech speak for "Dumbing down"
//Diablo IIi has turned from "must buy" to "must buy Guild Wars II instead"

Because Thunar rocks, and if you add Gigolo it really isn't all that
inconveniencing; for me, anyway. Supposedly the newer version of Thunar does
have this capability, but none of the distros I use have put it into their
repositories as of yet. I can live with Gigolo, though.

Agreed. A billboard for a Camry would be inappropriate to see in Orgrimmar. There's also the danger of something like Thrall trying to hawk shaving cream or some such. I realize 'Titan' will be a new franchise, but there's still the danger of messing up immersion.

Blizzard generally produces polished products, so I'm hoping they'll do it well.
