C'mon kimi let's see if you still have it in you

He would've been back in F1 earlier but he was having a shiat

For some reason, all I could think about was Vanilla Ice.

Stop... Collaborate and Listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention

A pretty boy, socialist European driver racing a gay little looking small car without a roof around turns?! Ha, call me when a real, overweight, boot strappy American man gets behind the wheel, of a big and heavy manly car while drinking a Coors Light and driving super fast in loops while listening to Rush Limbaugh talk about Newt Gingrich all at the same time.

THAT'S RACING.

I'll be curious to see how long he cares when he realizes the Lotus is the 5th best car on track on a good day, and he's spending the whole race defending 9th place.

Only people who can't understand the subtleties of auto racing, are unable to appreciate F1, NASCAR, Indycar, and all the others at least on some level.

The past few seasons in WRC have gotten him accustomed to defending 9th place...

This had me excited for a moment, as "Iceman" and "Formula One" SHOULD mean Mika Hakkinen.

But it's just the second best Finn driver ever.

/Glad Kimi is back though.

It should be noted that "Senna" is now available for streaming on Netflix. I haven't gotten choked up during a documentary in years and I damn near cried like a biatch at the end.

So who's Maverick driving for? Will he have a "RIP Goose" decal on his helmet?

Keke Rosberg might have something to say about that....

Yep. As soon as the track location/date was flashed on the screen I started tearing up. My wife is fairly F1 savvy, but relatively "new" to the sport. She sort of knew what was coming, but didn't understand all of it until it played out on the screen. First question she asked was why Ratzenberger and Senna weren't wearing HANS devices. Trying to explain how BIG an impact that horrible weekend had on Safety for F1 as a hole really made her appreciate the way things are, now. She's also a HUGE fan of Sid Watkins now and understands why I pay so much attention whenever he's quoted in the media as having an opinion on something...

If anybody can bring Lotus back up to being competitive its.....no I could type that with a straight face. Lotus is screwed and Kimi just wants a paycheck.

I remember watching the race. When the accident happened all the marshals ran up to Senna's car, and all stopped ten feet away and just stood there. I knew then he was dead.

It is excellent in regards to documentaries in general. But for a racing fan, it's even better. The behind the scenes driver meetings are as fascinating as the racing footage.

Am I the only one slightly disappointed by Senna? It was good but it wasn't...it was too much of a paen to the man, and overlooked his flaws, which was what made him such a person.

I actually thing the short (10-15 minutes) tribute Top Gear paid to him with Clarkson and Brundle was actually a better picture of the whole man than Senna.

That said, the scene of him walking out of the drivers meeting was....incredible. Ballistrade needs a documentary done about him as well...there must have been something incredible about him for him to get to that position in that era, but damned if it comes through in the existing footage.

Thing is, even in those days and even after what happened to Razzenberger the day before, accidents like that happened fairly often and the drivers just walked away. I saw one driver smash into a barrier at 180+, bounce off and slide along the track with only one wheel left on the car. The car hadn't even stopped moving when he undid his belt and started taking the steering wheel off.

I'm sure everyone who saw Senna's accident fully expected him to just get out and walk away. If it wasn't for the freak suspension bracket he would have.

I'm with you man. I would never disclose my true identity, but that Senna Doco was like watching a complete BS movie.

He was the most hated person in motorsports at the time. Then he died and the sympathy parade started.

He drove like a douche, and he died as such.

A lot of drivers have clauses in their contracts about not being able to do any outside racing. When Weber broke hisself 2 years ago, he didn't say anything because 1. it was mountain biking, and 2. he didn't want to be pulled from the final races.

Don't forget snowmobile races too! I still laugh about when he was at Ferrari in Malaysia in 09. Felipe is crying out for his white visor while being soaked by the rain, then they cut to Kimi, dry, relaxing in the hospitality area eating ice cream.
