Why can't they ever come up with something better than "exhaustion"? It's like the politicians who are caught with a gerbil up their ass is "retiring to spend more time with his family". Do they all have the same publicists?

They don't have the right to say he was drunk, because they could be liable for libel.
So they say "exhaustion". This is just a code word, everybody knows exactly what you mean, and you are spared from litigation.

Why do so many black guys have diabetes? I know four black guys with diabetes. Which is weird because I only know three black guys.
It has to be a cultural thing. A sax player I worked with in a blues band I was in was a older black guy. They eventually had to cut his leg off but he would still hit the kitchen wherever we played and grabbed the worst possible food he could. He didn't last long.
And don't eat at BB King's restaurant. That shiat will kill you quick.

Oh God, THIS. I was in Park City in October with my parents, and my dad (70 years old and diabetic) was getting grumpy because he needed lunch. We parked the car in the middle of the hill and started looking for restaurants. We walked up the hill the equivalent of two short city blocks and my dad stopped, turned around, and fell right the fark into me. Low blood sugar and the altitude (he normally lives right about sea level) farked him up good.
We're going to Sundance next year in the winter, and I've already purchased a tank of "emergency oxygen" in case we go walking around and he starts to feel woozy. High altitude is no joke.

Yeah. Went to Sundance a few years ago, and kinda scoffed at the warnings about not being used to altitude. It does make you a little loopy if you aren't used to it. (from flatland...and it kicked my ass for the first two days. Felt like a rookie!)

Not sure about diabetes, but the heart disease is caused by poor diets. Many food staples in many black households are fried foods, some soul food. Growing up, I would have fried fish or chicken at least 3 times a week before my parents became health nuts (glad they did). It's cheap, tasty, good eating, but shiatty for personal health and diet. That's probably a factor with diabetes too.

You know, there's a conspiracy theory that, after the civil war, the U.S. government spread false information about diabetes to keep the newly-freed slaves sluggish and docile, which is why, to this date, most African Americans don't understand that diabetes is caused by sleeping on your back.

Tracy Morgan has sickle cell disease. Altitude can cause a reaction this (sundance is at altitude). He could have had an ischemic attack which would cause you to act all whacky/pass out.
/Incidentally, while our TV was warming up (so sound/no picture) we thought that they had Tracy singing the national anthem (in his Tracy Jordan persona) at the NFC championship game. We were surprised to see that it was Steven Tyler (seriously, Steven Tyler was so bad he sounded like Tracy Jordan/Tracy Morgan).

No, diabetes is too, very much so. So I'm not saying it's some racial thing. White people in the south eat the same crap and it kills them just as efficiently. It's not just about being poor either. Maybe it used to be but people who can afford to eat vegetables without pouring ground up pig intestines into it still do it.
So if the medical chick said there wasn't anything in his system, who cares. Give him the benefit of the doubt. I really didn't think they were allowed to make public statements about that sort of thing either way. But whatever.

African Americans are twice as likely as the general population to get type 2 diabetes.
No one has pinpointed a direct cause yet, but diet is certainly a factor. African Americans are also more likely to be lower on the socioeconomic ladder in the US, and that directly relates to a piss poor diet. The poor in other parts of the world eat rice if they can't afford decent food. The poor in the US eat Funyuns and processed food with high glycemic indexes. If you figure the population is growing up eating food that has a direct link to the development of type 2 diabetes, then it's not surprising that type 2 diabetes becomes a problem.
Also, purple drank. That shiat isn't good for anybody.
