I will not watch this video. I am however glad that it exists, if not at least to expose, punish, and embarrass those responsible. If you strike a person with disabilities, you should be paraded around town in a dunce cap, tarred and feathered, and made to perform community service until the age of 21.

did they ask him how many times was struck?

Having disabilities doesn't mean can't earn yourself a pop in the mouth, like wheelchair guys. They should be held to the same standards as anyone. And they've got strong arms, too, so hittin' one should be y'know, okay if they earned it cause they can hit back too.

I would like to say your idea has merit for bullies. But you might want to read up on tarring and feathering. Tar is bloody hot and you can easily kill someone covering them with it. Kinda hard to get community service out of someone in the ICU.

Not all people in wheelchairs, mind you.

I've known too many kids that were downright obnoxious and antagonized other kids as well as adults and sure enough when they got their asses kicked or were punished otherwise the parents always cry victim., special needs, etc.
OTOH, bullying is wrong and should not be tolerated.

Would you yourself feel alright punching a guy in a wheelchair? Even if he was a complete dick, I still have a problem with this. Maybe I was being to general with "someone with disabilities" however. But speaking as a father, if my kid was disabled mentally, or physically, I would bring hell on whoever thought it ok to lay a hand on them.

I'm big into fair play. I'd let him hit back. Also I would not lean into them or anything, but a dick's a dick. Also, I can't punch for shiat, so I wouldn't feel bad about hitting ANY athlete in any state of health that lets them still play full contact sports because they do worse to themselves shaving of a morning.

But I wouldn't go all Captain Falcon on someone with a wasting disease or something. "You don't kick a man when he's down." is a general rule of spirit. If you've never seen MMA, sometimes the guy whose technically "down" on the ground needs to be hit repeatedly and in indelicate places. But if someone's truly ill or injured, you protect them. If someone's fine but just can't walk, they are just one of the guys. Pop.

I think I understand what you are saying, and am sure perhaps some folks in wheelchairs might even take offense at my "unwillingness" to engage in fisticuffs with them. But I personally would not feel right about it, even bending down after a jab to "let" them hit me back. And yes, I would wager one of those punches would probably feel more like a kick by a mule.

I was once punched in the face by a wheel-chair bound friend. Admittedly I was in his wheelchair at the time - which he had allowed me to do... But I hadn't quite got the handle of the "sportiness" of his particular type of chair (the axle is moved forward to provide faster and/or more powerful strokes, but also requires better balance) and so crashed it. When I came back to where he was sitting he whacked me one, saying "those are my legs you idiot, be careful with them!". He was right, of course, and I deserved it. We still remained mates long afterwards, but yes, I never did anything again to earn such a whack from him.

/My schoolmates had a lot of fun with the story, as he and I had the same name, so it had extra hilarity.
//He ended up having a medieval themed wedding, or so I heard
///I've been afraid of looking him up these days; his condition was degenerative, and I don't know what state he would be in...

Is "autism" a disability now? I thought that fad faded when Lifetime quit producing made-for-television movies about kids who stacked cards. I need to come up with a disability so anything bad that happens to me can seem even more sympathetic.

2012-01-23 09:17:39 AM
Just shows who really has the disability in this video, The autistic kids IQ is probably in the 130 to 140 range where as the kid who hit him is likely to have an average 80 to 90,
The gentle nature of the victim is heroic in its own. Its complete average morons that make society look like the shiat its become, autism is a new form of human evolution, GO Zelda..

FTFA: School officials would not comment directly on the incident but said that there were procedures in place to prevent bullying and protect students from becoming a liability for the school.

Fixed that for them. As far as the school's concerned, the problem isn't "bullying", it's "looking bad because of bullying." So, if they have "procedures in place", sure, they can look proactive, but in fact they're doing nothing different - they have most likely codified their failure and exclaimed that their "hands are tied" because they're just following procedure.

The kid was charged. Lovely. He'll go to court, get his hand slapped, come back, and keep pounding on this kid because there's, actually, little to stop him.

Okay these whiney parents have options beside "EVERYONE CATER TO MY DISABLED CHILD!"

1) Enroll the kid in martial arts. Autistic children do surprisingly well because the environment is very disciplined. It also helps them focus their hyper episodes a bit.

2) Change school until you find a fit. If they REALLY have been complaining daily about the bullying and nothing is being done, why the fark are they allowing their child to be constantly tormented? Find a different school.

3) Enroll autistic child in an afterschool program tailored to helping them deal with society in general. They are all over the place and they work extremely well...especially teaching them how to be less annoying/offensive/obnoxious/weird to their classmates which will decrease the bullying.

I am not talking about sever autism here, which this child clearly does not have. He has a form of autism couple with ADHD which just makes him that annoying kid no one is class likes because his is weird. THAT is how the other students view him. He needs extra help to figure out to properly socialize with the other kids. Just sending him to school to figure it out on his own is creating situation like this, so I think the parents are partially to blame for this one.

The kids beating him up deserve some special attention in juvi though. Poor kid, I feel bad for him, but at some point he is going to have to learn how to deal with it or he is never going to be a successful adult.

I'm pretty sure the DSM-IV lists "Farker" as a disability now. It's one step worse for people who pay for the privilege.

Why do we feel the need to coddle the disabled? The ADA has taught us that retards want to be treated like normal people. If a retard is annoying you because he's masturbating on a bus, or sticking his finger in his anus and then sniffing it, or trying to hump your leg, call him out on it. If he doesn't stop, you should take a shot at him. Every human should know proper social etiquette.

No, but has been proposed for the DSM-V.

Umm - autistic? Not seeing it.

Having said that, I can say that if I did this to *any* kid (..an apparently unprovoked assault) and made a video of it (nigh-impossible in the stone-age of onion belts I grew up in) my father would reward me by beating the living snot out of me then video tape me being dragged semi-conscious to the kid's house to apologize to him and his parents.

Just a thought but I'm betting that didn't happen here.

I haven't seen the video but I'm going to make judgement based on the shirt he was wearing. I have a hard time believing that a kid wearing a troll face shirt is an innocent little lamb that in no way was asking for an ass kicking. Autism or ADHD or not, you still have the responsibility to conduct yourself like a civil human being. I'd also wager that the boy is a bit indulged by his parents. You probably can't find troll face shirts at goodwill or the clearance rack of wal-mart, like all the clothes I had to wear in 6th grade.

He got beat up. So what? In my school with a class size of 80 kids there was at least one fight a week. I don't condone beating up kids but is this really a national headline?

You know all this hype with the schools that they are anti bulling yet the do nothing.
You talk to the person in charge they say they will talk to the kids nothing, they never even shake their finger at the bully;ies, you go to the principal he calls in someone they blame you for not following up even after you point out the 5 e-mails and two phone calls you sent that they ignored, they say they will get on it, 1 week later you call and are told well we called you, no, no you did not. They say well we will get on it 3 more wks the day before x-mas break you call the campus police and they threaten to arrest bully on or off campus because he was planning on stomping other kid in head that day to teach a lesson. Parents call everyday because the schools are all talk!

What exactly is the school going to do. Should every kid that throws a punch be thrown out forever? If you did that then all the boys and at least half the girls will be out. The reality is that the more noise the school and the kid makes the more payback he'll get later.
