YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE PATRIOTS!
Son, we live in a world that has games. And those games have to be played by men in pads. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the Ravens and you curse the Patriots. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Raven's loss, while tragic, probably helps football. And Belichick's existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, helps football...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want us in the game. You need us in that game.

Don't be an idiot. Cundiff missed, and it sucked, but it happens. Harbaugh could've called a time out, Evans could've caught the pass, Joe could've run it on 3rd and 1 to get the first and gotten a fresh set of downs. They could've not dropped 3+ passes today.

We had our chances and didn't make use of them. On the up side, Joe played like a stud for most of the game and I'm looking forward to seeing if it was real progress.

And to the Pats fans out there, I wish you luck, but if you played like you did today, I would be very worried about the Giants and the Niners.

I'm a little worried too. Our pass rush is good, are backers are solid, but our corners and safety are TERRIBLE. Have been for a few years now.

Still, we're finding ways to win. I'll take what we can get.

Zulu_as_Kono: Anyone have any idea what the Ravens were saving their timeout for? Anyone?

You'd think they would have used it to give Cundiff a bit more time. Judging by how late he ran onto the field, it seems everyone was expecting the FG attempt except for him.

What I want to see again is the replay on which Boldin (I think) fumbled out of bounds. Makes sense that the ball would be placed at the last place at which he had possession. Only, it seemed to me (and, granted, that's from watching it in real-time and again on a replay or two without thinking it might have a huge impact on the game) that he gained the first down. So, if the Ravens are given a first down there, even if the next 2 plays occur exactly as they transpired during the game (Moore swats the go-ahead TD out of Evans' hands, then, after getting away with some extracurricular activity, breaks up a pass intended for Pitta, bringing up 4th and 1), the play occurring with approximately 15 seconds left would've been 3rd down, and not a hurried 4th down-turned-missed-FG. Third down from about the 12 with 15 seconds and a timeout gives the Ravens at least one more shot at the end zone. Or, in the very least, a hand-off to Rice up the middle, timeout, and Cundiff has more than 8 seconds to go through his routine.

Without sounding like sour grapes, I'm not sure you totally found a way to win tonight. I think the Giants are your worst matchup, solid RB, great QB and explosive WR. Almost what you got from the Ravens minus the QB play (though Joe is certainly getting better). When Eli breaks the pocket he's dangerous and Joe exposed that as a weakness for you guys.

I'm really surprised ESPN seems to already be favoring the Pats but in my mind whoever comes out of the NFC is going to be a handful, and Im not sure the Ravens could handle the Giants.

Because if I wasn't hallucinating, that whole lining up to kick the figgie looked really rushed. If I recall they snapped it with one on the play clock. Christ - they might have been better off taking the delay and kicking from 5 more yards. I don't know - I was watching at a bar. But I'm sure that Harbaugh is glad that he still has the TO in his pocket.

I don't like either team, and I didnt watch the game, but from the highlights... wow - have the rules devolved to the point where that isnt an catch in the end zone? catch, control, ball knocked away after the 2nd foot touches... how long does he need to hold it? That would have been a touchdown for 99% of the nfl's history.

well, the 49'ers are getting a good pass rush on Eli right now, and he's not looking so hot. Still time on the clock though. Our secondary made Joe look like a manning with a few of those throws. You guys completely swapped what you were good at for what worked against us and almost beat us.

We usually are able to run up the score and that makes the secondary not look so bad, as we don't need to worry if we get 21 scored on us. The really lame, conservative offensive play calling almost did us in again. This is the third season where we apparently go back to basics in the big playoff games. Not to mention passing with 2min on the clock when we just ran 5-6 run plays for 7 yards each the drive before. WTF is that shiat!?

While true, if they had called the TO and then he shanks the kick, Harbaugh gets accused of freezing his own kicker. Cundiff should have been better prepared out there; just bad clock management by the special teams group.
