Linking to a blog that links to the actual article? Why not just link DIRECTLY to the article?

I'm pretty sure io9 pays for the links.

If they're paying for the links, shouldn't it say "sponsored link" on it? Either way, that's just lame. The io9 blog adds nothing whatsoever of value to the article. Although the article itself did teach me that there are people nerdy enough not only to create a market for "Cyclops-style glasses" but to put them on their wishlists and actually ask other people to buy Cyclops-Style Glasses for them.

I know how to make a Geordi LaForge visor even cheaper. All you gotta do is pop the hood on your neighbor's car, steal the air filter and snap it in half.

Cost: $0

Figure out how to make a decent looking Daft Punk robot helmet for $30 and I'll make us both a nice chunk of change.

I'd gamble that io9 can handle the traffic better than the original guy. People like me just click through to the io9 article and don't click any further. Still others just read the headline on fark. God fark, how dare you post a headline instead of just a link to the article?!?!?1

I read cyclops as "cylon", and clicked. Imagine my disappoint. Then I tried to figure out what a cylon visor would be.

Link fail subs. There was not instructions, just a post that also stated somebody came up with those plans. Maybe you should try linking to an article that is actually what you say it is?

I didn't post a link to the geek tab, so how is that a link failure?

io9, Gawker, Gizmodo... yeah, I don't even bother clicking the links any more. They add nothing of value but apparently suck off Drew enough to continue getting linkage.

We're talking portals inside of portals. It can take 3 or 4 clicks to get to the source. It's farking annoying.

If the guy's site goes down, that's a pretty good thing for him. Content theft is just another pathetic consequence of gawker's 15 minute deadline. Cool people make the content, and gawker gets the ad revenue.

Cyclops was always my favorite. X-Factor #14 (1980something) = first comic I ever bought.
