So much for that breakout game from the player on the Patriots who's faced the Ravens more than anybody else on the team.

I haven't been keeping up - are we supposed to love Ocho Cinco or hate him? And why?

The Weeners on NFL.com is just mind boggling racist.

Ochocinco would have NEVER fit into Bellichick's system. It was just a bad fit all around.

HIS DAD DIED. Jesus christ, that's a pretty damn good reason not to play.

That's the flip side of situations like Joe Philbin, who's SON died, in a freak accident, and not only did he coach, he interviewed and got a new job in the 2 weeks after.

So the Pats are serious about winning the game today.

How much do you grieve, when your dead adult child is a rapist?

Hmm, Boston.com reported that "Ochocinco tweeted on Monday morning that his father had died; he did not have a close relationship with his father, who was in prison for nearly all of his childhood. Ochocinco said in September that he kept him at arm's length.

He is expected to be back in Foxborough, possibly tonight, though certainly in time for the game."

I'd say it's because they don't have a use for him with Woodhead, Branch and Welker active, not to mention their TE's.

/Like Ochocinco though
//Seems like a cool guy

I hate Johnson, and I'm not the most racial coomba ya friendly mofo, but I can't fault him on this.

And the Packers coach should've been with his family and not in a farking pressbox. Football players have an inflated sense of self worth. Believe me, the dead don't give a fark if you win or lose or even if you showed up, because they're DEAD!

As someone who is estranged from his father I have to tell you the conflicting emotions are hard to understand. In my case, when he dies, I will not be going to the funeral. But I don't fault someone in a similar situation who does.

I was estranged from my father for a few years, all the way to his unexpected death, ~3 weeks ago, and I didn't go to the funeral. So I completely understand the conflicting emotions and how shiatty of a situation it can be (and am sorry you have that crap to deal with too).

/Though in Ochocinco's case, there didn't seem to be much of an attachment, starting in his early childhood

It's one thing for a players dad to die. I'm sure it's quite another when a coach, who's gone most of the year with the team, still opts for a playoff game instead of mourning the loss of a son be probably barely knew.

As soon as Brady threw that INT that the Jew short-routed, I knew the game was over. I'm not kidding.

Or Favre...who went to his Dad's funeral and beat the crap out of the team on MNF in -1M degrees.

/do feel bad for the dude but I would think that playing would take his mind off of it
//not that he actually "played" at all this season

I love the Favrian revisionist history. He tore apart a substandard secondary by essentially heaving the ball up into the air again and again, and depending on his receivers to catch them. It was a ridiculous game for several reasons--including the Raiders' ineptitude, but also that Favre's mentality was "here's one for you Dad, GO DEEP."

His son made an incredibly stupid mistake, but he also served his time. That's the thing that bothers me the most about this story, that EVERYBODY made mention of the conviction when it had NOTHING to do with the story.

The idea about prison is that it serves as REHABILITATION. I'm not defending what the son did, but your implication that parents write their children off as soon as they commit a crime is stupid.

Talk to me about that when a halfway house opens up nextdoor to you. Or you hire a newly-released ex-con to a sensitive position that requires trust.

Recidivism. Look it up. For rape, specifically.

Yeah, but it doesn't matter here. A Farker's dad could die, and they'd still come here and leave trollish nasty comments.

very true subby - but he will be playing (if you want to call his probable stat line, playing) in the Super Bowl

which also happens to - not - be a repeat from - well, ever

At this point it couldn't hurt to bring Bernard Pollard in for questioning regarding the death of Mrs. Kraft And Chad's father...

Yes, the son was such a massive threat to society and there was so much fear he was a sexual predator that he got SIX MONTHS.

Unless it's a Farker they like, then they'll pay for the funeral and give themselves congratulatory pats on the back for what awesome people they are.

Yes, the son was such a massive threat to society and there was so much fear he was a sexual predator rape is so unimportant to the criminal system and so often considered not REALLY crime, just desire run amok, that he got SIX MONTHS.

Funny how you want me to look up statistics to prove one point, then use anecdotal evidence to REALLY drive that argument home.

Haven't been following Ocho this year, but is he done or does he just not mesh with the Pats?

Or is he going to explode and have a huge moment in the Superb Owl?
