344,000 manufacturing jobs created since January 2010. 22 consecutive months of private sector job growth. Dow up 60% since January 2009. Not bad for a Socialist. Communist. Marxist. Crony Capitalist. Whatever the GOP is calling him this week.

The GOP wrote their responce before Obama's speech was written. They are just going to say how much Obama sucks and not offer any substance or propose any policies.

I still simply stunned in this country we treat the rich with kid gloves and make sure they don't have to pay taxes, but rail on a few thousand dollars government expense to keep food stamps around so poor people don't starve.

GaryPDX: cptjeff: Gary harbors a secret desire to live in Somalia.

Ya know, that "somalia" retort is so completely lame. Right!!! Our only choices are the extremes. Yea..chubetcha.

Considering how often liberals on fark are accused of wanting to turn America into Soviet Russia, Communist China, Nazi Germany, or Europe, you will get absolutely no sympathy for that complaint.

Myself and others share that desire. The assumption is that there isn't Internet access there.

Gary believes he can bootstrap his own internet without it ever connecting to some socialistic 'shared' system.

Okay, I'll bite. I don't expect you to understand what any of the terms I just added to the graph mean. But if you look them up, you'll see this graph says literally the opposite of what you're intending it to. You can't possibly not see that.

GaryPDX: Podna: GaryPDX: You do know what they say about trying the same thing over and over and each time expecting a different result? Right?

Then why do we keep giving the "job creators" tax cuts.

To free up Capital. You have distaste for the games of the rich but every time they sneeze and feel safe enough to throw their money around, people work.

So, they haven't felt safe for 10 years? Pussies.

Speaking as a Fark liberal, I'd be very happy if America turned into Western Europe.

It would be a hell of a lot better than turning into Somalia.

Another chance for Obama to lay a rhetorical smack down after months of partisan brinkmanship and parliamentarian games. His ability to speak, and his attitude in doing so, is much of the reason why I voted for him.

Boxcutta: Does it involve eliminating Congress? Cause if it doesn't, ain't nothing going to get done.

Exactly. Republicans have shown us how far right they're willing to push the government even with a minority in congress. Nothing is getting done unless they want it done. And they want nothing good done.

/that is unless we can somehow get a Dem majority in the House and super majority in the Senate AND they somehow manage to all find spines at once and work together.
//it'll never happen

GaryPDX: Here's the cliff notes:

"Blah blah blah, green jobs.

Need those.

Blah blah blah, tax evil rich people.

And the nice ones too. Not just the evil ones. It's a money thing, and not an attitude thing.

Blah blah blah, roads and bridges.

You'd be happy if our infrastructure collapsed to levels that would cripple our commerce and security? Why do you even live in this country?

Blah blah blah, invest spend."

Well... yeah. Those things, unfortunately, cost money. That money, strangely enough, goes into the pockets of the people who do the work. I'm not sure what the English word is for such a person, but I think they call them "workers." And, I think the things these workers do are called... Help me out here. Are they called "jerbs?"

Damn... It's definitely a "J" word.

In a video released Saturday to millions of campaign supporters, Obama said he will concentrate on four areas designed to restore economic security for the long term: manufacturing, energy, education, job training and a "return to American values."

Oh I just cannot wait to hear what those "American values" are that we're returning to.

It's a CONSPIRACY to hide a well known fact that the opposition always gives a counter-State of the Union after the Presidents and nobody ever cares.

How convenient that they didn't mention the sky getting dark after sunset either. Must be a conspiracy of the secret lamestream liberal drive by MSM media!
