The modern GOP is the greatest threat the United States has ever faced. Neither Hitler nor Stalin nor Bin Laden had anything on these guys as far as directly threatening the American way of life goes.

GaryPDX: You guys do know that "Payroll Tax Cut" isn't a tax cut at all? That money is what you pay into Social Security which directly affects what you get later in SS benefits. Your just borrowing from yourselves.

As for Keystone, what the hell. Let China burn that nasty stuff and we'll keep buying from the middle east.

Hi GaryPDX. I think you're going to have to give a citation or two to back up your Weeners. While it seem logical, I believe you're making an assumption without confirming that payroll tax cuts for a short time now will directly cause benefit reductions in the future. My opinion, I'm not too keen on the payroll tax cuts, sort of like how I was totally against the 2003 income tax cuts by Bush II and the GOP Congress.

As for Keystone and your second comment, I'm for a through review of the pipeline without Congress introducing short suspenses to push their political agenda in making President Obama look bad with phantom issues.

Sorry, GaryPDX, but I didn't type Weeners. Methinks Drew's got a new word substituion script running.

GaryPDX: It makes no sense to make Canada sell their oil to China just to appease the envrionuts

Can you cite me where in the Keystone Pipeline agreement Canada is made to sell the oil to the US? You do know that the pipeline terminates in one of the busiest international ports in the country, don't you? I mean, if you didn't, you'd look like a total idiot.

2012-01-22 02:00:08 PM
GaryPDX: As for Keystone, it is already well vetted. It's been in the works for years. And if you look at any pipeline map, you'll see there are already thousands of miles of pipelines crisscrossing the entire re

No there aren't any pipelines crossing the aquifer. Fail #2.

If you think China is going to buy the most expensive oil in the world when it can buy cheap oil from Iran and Russia, I've got a bridge to sell you.

Gary: the shortfall in ss tax caused by the cut is paid into the ss trust fund from the general fund. Say what you want about smoke and mirrors, etc but it is inaccurate to imply that the ss trust fund gets short changed by this tax cut. I'm on a mobile or I'd link to something.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said on Sunday that he may block an extension of the payroll tax holiday if President Barack Obama does not approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

So what happens later this year when the GOP candidate goes before the voters and tries to gather middle class support for his push to the white house?

GOP candidate: 'I support the middle class!'
voters: 'but your party was the one that tanked my tax cuts.'
GOP candidate: 'um...ABORTION TERRORISMS SOCIALISMS!'
voters: 'right. you've got alzheimers. looks like we're voting for the black guy again.'
GOP candidate: [nazgul screech]

As long as Fox keeps saying it will create millions of jobs instead of only 4500 temporary jobs and a long term environmental threat, it'll work better than you think.

...but all Obama has to do is remind voters that the GOP cost them money. NOBODY votes to support a party that hurts their bank accounts. especially not a bunch of greedy bottom feeding prosperity gospel asshats.

There's an offensive image that comes to mind right now. It gets deleted if I link it, but it has to do with a vehement encouragement to engage in a threatened activity, along with a homophobic slur.

Yeah, Boehner. That.

Republican policies have cost Americans money for 30 years. People still vote Republican.

GAT_00: Republican policies have cost Americans money for 30 years. People still vote Republican.

no, people don't 'vote Republican'. they vote pro-life and pro-family. They don't identify with the GOP anymore, they maintain a laser like focus on their narrowly defined special interest.

So find a bunch of voters who are more interested in their paycheck than they are with esoteric debates over gory abortion pictures and you'll see the Republicans kicked out so fast it'll make your head spin.

probably, just not lying around my work laptop though. I keep those files and links on a seperate computer at home.

that said, think about it - single issue politics is one of the most powerful forces in politics today. people identify less with a political party and more with a single issue (or one big issue and several smaller closely related issues). that's how they vote now, and not so much for the Republicans or Democrats.

or so goes the theory anyways.

So much for his pledge to present clean legislation.

Yeah, Democrats never do the same thing. Nope, never.

Seriously, these people are just baldface scam artists. Amazing.

I think what most people object to is the blatant hypocrisy shown by the GOP on the whole tax cut thing.

changing the subject? really? that's usually a fall back tactic. you would have been better to start off with a straw man, then shift to a couple/few ad hominem attacks THEN change the subject.

Studies? Republicans don't want Obama to have time do the standard studies of the environmental impact of Keystone, they just want him to approve it regardless, now. Researching before making a decision is what liberals do, not what real Americans do.
