Well, this.

Now someone needs to take up the cause of trolling those emotionally invested in their trolling.

This is why I don't enjoy anything, except ironically. Being unhappy all the time is a small price to pay in exchange for everyone on TFD thinking I'm cool!

I don't really see a difference between Paterno and the leaders of the Catholic church. They both thought protecting their public image was more important than protecting young children.

Personally, I am glad he was fired and don't really give a crap that he died. i do feel bad for the students and alumni of Penn State though (except the ones that thought firing Paterno was an overreaction). They didn't know about this and they don't deserve to have their name tarnished.

This quote is probably the best, and most true, quote from all of the JoPa threads so far. And it will be difficult to top.

I think you are right about that. I grew up Catholic, and I don't really practice anymore, but a lot my friends and family do, and New Orleans is a very, very Catholic town, so I can tell you that I don't know anyone who defends the Church officials who swept that under the rug. When Archbishop Hughes - who was instrumental in the Boston cover-up - was moved from Boston and appointed Archbishop of New Orleans, people here were outraged. I think most Catholics feel betrayal at the scandal. Maybe Penn State folks just aren't over the shock and disbelief yet. You just sort of have to separate your faith from the humans that let you down, whether it's faith in your church or in your university. But you certainly don't want to put yourself in the position of making excuses for the faults that led to the abuse of children. I hope for Penn State fans and alums' sake they do a better job of cleaning house than the Church has done so far. As an institution, the Church still has a long way to go. The problem now is they are huge target of some baseless suits, but separating the meritorious claims from the money grabs is a problem when you've got a documented history of decades-long cover-ups.

Only a JoPapologist would make up such a retarded thing as "JoPa". His name is four goddamn syllables. You're shortening it to two. How lazy can you be?

I'm not an apologist, but amazes me that we live in a country where Michael Jackson is still celebrated and missed and Joe Paterno is the devil. I have no love for Paterno at all! But seriously? He wasn't the one diddling the kids. People choose interesting avenues for their hatred.

I wonder how close Rick Santorum was from growing up Dick Santorum. I suspect Dick Santorum would have been 3-5 times funnier running for president than just plain ole regular Santorum has been.

Nope, it's the frothy mix of shiat, semen, and lube that's created as a byproduct of anal sex.

I just found out that this guy was a coach of college sports. Given this, I am in disbelief that I am reading about him so much. Since when do college sports matter? Did I miss a memo? What else have I missed? Have we colonized the moon, too?

9beers: Who are the bigger idiots, JoPa bashers or basement dwellers? Oh wait, they're one in the same.

Naw, I think the people who hate Joe Pa are soccer moms and dads.

I saw this in my DnD group last year. We were talking about good fantasy with swords and whatnot. We came to George RR Martin. Everyone who'd read it said "It's great." then the father of two chimes in "Except for all that child rape." We're all like "Wut?"

Now I don't know if you've read the books. He was referring to the fact that Sansa Stark was 14 years old when they married her to Joffery. That's the kind of thing being a parent can do to you easily. You get all retarded and emotional about things and start jumping at shadows.

Nowhere is the outrage at the people who are actually facing perjury charges and actually covered things up. No, they have to hate Joe Pa because despite the fact he didn't know the story the grand jury heard and passed the story up the chain of command as was proper and any of would have done given the same situation.

But logic isn't friends with emotion. They don't know the two men facing PMITA time for the cover up. They don't know McQueery, uh McClearly, uh McBeery, um whoever it is that saw the actual rape. They don't know the names of the victims. They don't know anything about anything except outrage and Joe Paterno's name. So of course the hate machine revs up. Fark it and fark them. May he rest in peace.

How about (Mu)?

Whichever of the two ignore child rape happening in their institution.

He just covered it up so it could continue to happen. Yay, he didn't actively molest children!

You know, I haven't given a cent to the university in over a decade. With the scandal, I figured I never would. But you reminded me that I hate trolls more than anything else. So for your sake I think I'll donate to both and then take a job on K Street.
