I don't think Joe Pa actually called the play. He just died after all

2012-01-22 10:33:24 AM
Good riddance.

Sad day for anyone who grew up in State College. A great man who made an egregious error in judgment. His name will always be tarnished, but hopefully he will still be remembered for the good as well as the bad.

RIP JoePa.

Goodnight Coach...

cbackous: cant audible out of that one.

He could have called another tight end to the line of scrimmage.

Guess he figured he'd be dead before the scandal broke. Almost Joe, almost.

The student editor of the college newspaper at State College resigned just hours after sending an inaccurate tweet about Joe's death. Joe coulda learned a lot from that kid.

Sad he didn't suffer more. At least he lived long enough to lose what he loved in disgrace and to bring great shame to his family name. Bastard.
/yes, 50 years of good actions can be undone.

Helluva coach who played a huge role in making Penn State what it is today, and made some utterly indefensible decisions regarding a monster in his employ preying on young boys.

Does that cover all the bases?

Oh wait, I forgot the RIP meme. Oh well.

bigtotoro: /yes, 50 years of good actions can be undone.

It takes a lifetime to build a legacy, and it can be ruined overnight. I'll not revel in his death, nor am I especially sad (he was 85, that'll happen), but you know if it weren't for the whole kiddy diddling coverup, he'd probably be getting a freaking state funeral.

Oh well, best wishes to his family and friends.

Goodnight, funnyman.

I don't follow college sports so I didn't even know who he was until the scandal broke.

If Woody had gone straight to the police, none of this would have ever happened.

//btw, he didn't molest the kids, Jerry did, but yeah, let's hope he suffers because obviously he's history's greatest monster.

I refuse to take joy in anyone who succumbs to cancer, no matter what they did (or didn't do) with their life. Cancer is a horrible, nasty thing and I hope we one day find a way to beat it.

etymxris: Guess he figured he'd be dead before the scandal broke. Almost Joe, almost.

I did wonder at the time what difference it would make to the scandal breaking and our perceptions of PSU and/or Paterno if he had already retired or died before it broke. In the latter case, I feel like his reputation would've mostly survived.

2012-01-22 10:38:50 AM
If had any shreds of decency left, he had a video camera (and some witnesses) brought in and left a nice video recording that will help fark Sandusky over.

/not that prosecutor likely needs help

Kind of a shiatty way to go out. Dude lost pretty much everything and really didn't commit a crime outside of being ragingly stupid.

Shame he didn't live longer with the weight of his crime on his conscience.

No remorse for child rapists or their allies. I don't give a flying fark how many idiotic football games you won.

I love all the people here that can't understand the difference between "Not doing anything" and "Doing what he was supposed too." There are lots of people here that talk a big game, but are really cowards when it comes too child molesters.

Good one. He actually didnt do that. Reporting it to the administration instead of the police is protecting? You are listening to the morons on Fark too much, bro.
