Thank God that Ozzy Osbourne never played bluegrass.

That's much happier than what happened when i was watching Mary Gauthier play at the 30A Songwriter's Festival last weekend. It wasn't a bird that dropped on her, but a large roach. To her credit, she kept playing and singing the whole song, even while the roach crawled all over her shoulder, neck, and face.

She was twitching a bit, but she refused to stop playing.

I instantly like that guy. Might even look for some of their music.

Well what happened to the bird after? It was clearly stunned (probably flew into something overhead) and sometimes they recover from that, sometimes not.

I'm thinking the bird flew into a hot light or had a nest to close to a hot light and got totally confused.

Was it a Surfin' bird?

desertmouse: Well what happened to the bird after?

It partied backstage with Flatt and Scruggs, got knocked up, and eventually formed its own band. They're kind of like the Carter Family but downier.

Looked like a fledgeling to me although I couldn't tell you the species. It didn't seem to fly very well and when the singer had his finger over the birds head (2:03) it chirped as though to be fed.
Cute as you like, though, and great reaction from the geetar man.

jermadem: Mary Gauthier

I've heard a lot about the festival but not that. Good thing she was raised in Louisiana or I'm sure lots of squealing would have happened.

Considering it opened it's mouth and asked for food when he held his hand over it, I'd say "fledgling didn't get as far as it wanted to"... great reaction by the guitar player though.

"I don't know what to do!"

/By interesting coincidence, I saw Terry Baucom play with Tony Rice and Mountain Heart last night. Great show.

Well I didn't tell anyone, but a bird flew by.
Saw what I'd done. He set up a nest outside,
and he sang about what I'd become.
He sang so loud, sang so clear.
I was afraid all the neighbours would hear,
So I invited him in, just to reason with him.
I promised I wouldn't do it again.

But he sang louder and louder inside the house,
And no I couldn't get him out.
So I trapped him under a cardboard box.
stood on it to make him stop.
I picked up the bird and above the din I said
"That's the last song you'll ever sing".
Held him down, broke his neck,
Taught him a lesson he wouldn't forget.

But in my dreams began to creep
that old familiar tweet tweet tweet

I opened my mouth to scream and shout,
I waved my arms and flapped about.
But I couldn't scream and I couldn't shout,
couldn't scream and I couldn't shout.

I opened my mouth to scream and shout
waved my arms and flapped about
But I couldn't scream I couldn't shout,
The song was coming from my mouth.

Was that some kind of robot bird? What wild bird sits there and lets you pet it?
