Pet peeve: while it's largely got biological causes (well, everything humans do has a biological cause!) it's probably not genetic. Epigenetic, perhaps. The real difference is that being homosexual is socially acceptable behavior, or at least it should be. Being an ignorant bigot, on the other hand, is completely unacceptable.

Southerners are the only class in America where you can be as bigoted as you want to be.

You can't show any bias against any other group. Not foreigners, not immigrants, not gays, not religious minorities even.

As a Southerner, I'm getting a kick out of this.

The South does not have a monopoly on inbred racist rednecks. My wife is a Yankee and where she grew up, Upstate New York near Buffalo, there are inbred racist rednecks aplenty. Her Facebook lights up with posts about Teh Gheys, Odumbo taking their rifles, and how awesome Newt Gingrich is.

Being a godless gay-married ex-patriot hillbilly, I'm really getting a kick out of this thread.
