Ok, since I haven't seen that many in a bit and things have gotten out of hand (unless he posts before I refresh), Earguy actually got permission from Mods to post girl pics in thread since he has been:
A) The ultimate sports staple over the years
B) Always takes care with what he would even link to
C) Is incredibly considerate to the thread in general

I'm just posting in case people bickering start to even turn on him when really he has been nothing but awesome to pretty much everyone in the sports threads. He only even started post pics recently after that permission.

Harv72b: I had this detailed thing written up with my picks for today, chock full of statistics and probably wishful thinking, but in looking at it now it's just too long (that's what she said). So here's a much shorter version:

Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots:
Well, duh, of course the Ravens fan is going to pick Baltimore here. The much shorter version is that while this game matches strength vs. strength (the Pats' offense vs. the Ravens defense), on the other side of things New England's defense is a much greater weakness than the Rice/Flacco offensive attack. Plus I of course have to keep my favorite statistic in here: Baltimore is 7-0 this season against playoff teams, while New England is 0-2 against playoff teams not called the Denver Broncos. Look for a healthy dose of Ray Rice/Ricky Williams here along with a few deep throws against the Patriots secondary, while Baltimore goes with man coverage and some creative blitz packages to slow down Sir Uggalot and his tight end connection. Final score: 27-23

Can I just point out that if Lee Evans holds on to the farking ball in the end zone, I probably nail only the winner but the exact freaking score??? With the exception of Rice having a big day, pretty much everything that the Ravens needed to happen in order to win, happened. Somewhere in this thread is a post I made about needing two more turnovers to win the game...check. Flacco having a strong outing...check. Defense containing Gronk & Hernandez? Well...enough. Yet it's all for naught as the Pats mount one final drive to take the lead, Evans drops the ball in the end zone (in all seriousness, nice play by the NE DB), and then Cundiff shanks the kick that would've sent it to overtime.

New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers:
While we all wanted to see a Saints/Packers rematch and the inevitable race to 100 combined points it would produce, this game is equally appealing in my opinion. On the one hand you have the steady & consistent 49ers, led by a strong defense and running game, while on the other there are the streaky (but white-hot) Giants and an explosive passing attack plus defense that can get a lot of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Again strength against strength, but the difference-maker to me is that San Fran's offense is just a little better (imo) than New York's D, and the Giants just seem a little more susceptible to the turnover. Harbaugh the Younger cements his claim to Coach of the Year honors with a 26-17 victory.

While there's at least a shared sense of responsibility for the loss in Baltimore (or there should be), as far as the 49ers go it's all going to land squarely on the shoulders of poor Kyle Williams, whose muffed punt and later fumble on a return led to half of New York's 20 points, including the game-winning field goal in overtime. To be fair, Eli Manning had a very solid game playing under murderous pressure, and the Giants' receiving corps came up big in the game with numerous tough (and clutch) catches, but wow. As a total aside, I cannot tell you how much the 49ers defense tonight reminded me of the Ravens D during their 2000 Super Bowl season, and how much Patrick Willis reminds me of a young Ray Lewis (down to the number). Now the question becomes whether or not Harbaugh can keep this mostly young team motivated for a repeat run next season.

Seriously, great couple of games and congratulations to the New England Patriots and the New York Giants for moving onward. And for San Francisco fans & my fellow Ravens supporters, there's no dishonor in the way our teams played this year, and every reason to expect another strong performance next season.

/For the record, I did not kick my cat at any point today.

What the hell was going on over on that sideline... was Cundiff taking a piss or something. That was high school stuff.

I said this a little before you. He didn't get to the ball till 7-9 seconds left on the play clock. WTF took him almost 40 seconds to get out there? I mean...seriously?

I simply can't fathom that you and I are the only two mother farkers that noticed that. That was a HUGE fark up. They cut to the iso-view of the kicker which was him sprinting onto the field, and I KNEW he was going to miss it. Same thing as rushing a golfer and taking him out of his routine. Harbaugh is a freaking moron for not calling timeout when he (should have) noticed Cundiff wasn't in the huddle and ready to go.

Anyway... good eye... apparently everybody else is stupid.

I caught it too. I saw him running onto the field with 13 seconds left and it was obvious that they were rushing to get it off. I couldn't believe they just didn't call the timeout so that they could take their time.

I actually came to this thread just to see if anyone else picked up on that since there was no mention at all in the tv coverage.

Good game, Flacco. Much as I revel in a Ravens loss, I have to admit that I feel somewhat for Flacco, having to deal with all the shiat he gets for not living up to the standards his defense sets. Must be rough having to worry about getting shivved by a teammate. Now, it's Condiff's turn.

And to the classy Ravens fans here, my condolences. Much as I can't stomach your team winning even a preseason game, some of you guys are cool.

Awful game by Brady, though. Hopefully the Gints win and I can go right back to hating the Patriots. And Tom earned this:

Harv72b: I want to make one point, and one point only about that game:

Joe Flacco won it. He won't get a single bit of credit for that during the coming weeks, but he won the farking the game. He can't force his receivers to hold onto the ball in the end zone, and he can't force his kicker to make the field goal for OT either. Great game by Joe, great season overall, and we will be back in 2012 (assuming the Mayans were wrong).

Congrats Patriots fans. Good game.

Hey Harv, for your sake I'm sorry things didn't turn out differently - you're a cool dude, and although I don't exactly like your team, lol, I do respect them. And yes, that includes Flacco - like I've said before, he doesn't get the credit he deserves. Maybe he's not "elite" (whatever that means, anyway), but I believe he's definitely more capable than people think. Congrats on a good game and a great season (although fark you for beating my guys twice, anyway :P), and we'll see you next year. :)

It was a pleasure to meet a fan that respected our longtime division rivalry, and your AFC North title cannot be taken away. As I said in the weeks leading up to this, this does not mean PIT will take a series sweep so lightly next time. Be ready with your boys, and be ready with mine.
