your idiotic claim that the gronkowski sideline "incomplete" was incomplete and not even close to be worth review

Harv72b: First half thoughts:

-When the hell did we forget how to defend the run?
-Dickson...hold on to the damn ball.
-Not gonna biatch about the illegal contact that nullified the interception, but I will say that if it had been a no-call there wouldn't be much biatching either.

Overall, about as happy as I can be, with the Ravens going into halftime trailing. The D is giving up yards between the 20s but buckling down in the red zone, Flacco is throwing the ball fairly well (11/16 with one definite + 1 iffy drop and a throwaway), and we've got the first turnover. Really need a couple more picks in the second half to put this away.

Halftime stat of the day:
Tom Brady: 14/24, 146, 1 INT
Flacco: 11/16, 162, 1TD

/Go Ravens!

You have Ed Reed, so I can totally see this happening. :)

FriarReb98: Got the studio monkeys on mute, why are they bothering with the play where Gronk's out of bounds?

\is it just me, or is that about the same weather as the day of The Catch in SF?

His left foot was on the ground when he was making the catch, probably should have been ruled a reception instead of out of bounds since he clearly got his right foot in.

Well, after long and careful consideration (12 seconds), I was unable to come with anything Patriots or Ravens related to post for your halftime entertainment. So I'm just going to post Chester A. Bum's review of "Twilight - Breaking Dawn, Part 1." (new window)

I don't know, maybe one of you guys will see a connection. Oh, and Doug Walker's rant below the Bum review is also worth checking out (come for the Bum, stay for Doug's Brian Kelly-esque smurf complexion).

I'm not sure I'd want a trophy with a cape.

Is that trophy supposed to be Walter Payton or James Brown in a football helmet?

You see, when a Patriot makes a catch, he has control as soon as the ball touches his hands, rather than when he has control of it.

correct, he immediately had control (no bobble) while the first foot was still toes-down (heel up) on the turf

If my claim is so idiotic, why didn't Belichick throw the challenge flag? He had a lot of time and several looks at it. But I guess you know way more about football than he does.

davidphogan: AnEvilGuest: you are correct according to wiki
I've seen countless balls thrown away quite obviously but I guess they were explained by:
The third factor is "imminent pressure."

Since we was running backwards away from defenders I assumed imminent pressure could be safely assumed.

Ref must have thought the receiver was close enough on that one.
I was mistaken thinking of other cases where no such benefit of the doubt was possible which must of relied on the pressure aspect rather than the LOS .
Live and learn, although I'm never a guy who snivels over referring decisions anyway.

FWIW, his first foot was down as the ball got there, the second was clearly down after he caught it. It's just a case of defining when he had possession...I'm guessing the Pats figured it was too iffy to challenge based on that.

Interesting. I feel like he had some kind of amazing TD run against my boys last season, but it got called back because of a penalty? Could be wrong, don't feel like looking it up, lol, but in any case I can't say I'm really surprised.

/still think Ed Reed is pretty darn good, though

My pot roast needs another 20 minutes to perfection. Jalapeno cornbread, some nice basmati rice to go with the gravy, and a little cole slaw with a red pepper vinagrette dressing. Pineapple upside down cake for the finale.

well, it eiter happens (a logic "1" or "yes") or it doens't, which is a logic "0" or "no", so the o/u is inapplicable. it can't be 0.5 (that is, it can't halway happen) and it can't be multieples of 0 or 1.

correct, it hinges on defining possession, and they may not have won the challenge based on the ruling on the field, but the original claim that it was nowhere close to being worth review is 100% POHR

only at an inopportune time, like when the Giants go for a field goal in the 4th or something. It's a 330 start out there, so will be light most of the first half.
