That game should be played in the Superdome. Goddammitsomuch.

It's cool, though. The Saints will be a perennial contender for the next 4 or 5 years.

I was wondering why the Empire State was red and gold. For a moment I thought "I guess it's for the 49ers" but then I thought "THAT MAKES NO SENSE WHYYYY"

Between this and Biden rallying a SF crowd by saying "The Giants are going to the Super Bowl", this has been amusing all around.

GimpyNip: Maybe it's just the picture they use on their mobile site but the miniature building is blue. Obviously they're probably talking about the actual empire state building but it would have been nice if they showed that.

Anyway, don't fret, Giants fans. I am Paul The Octopus and I've already put you and the Pats in the Superbowl. This isn't a bad omen at all.

Since David Tyree flipped the switched, it wound up being lit with an irrational and rabidly anti-gay pattern of lights?

Hey... at least the Giants have lights that function.

Well, at least for the next 2 years. The Cardinals and Rams still have to knock you out of the first round.

I don't know, the rematch of Super Bowl 42, with Peyton's brother and his arch nemesis Brady trying to win a Super Bowl in his stadium seems like a pretty crappy pre-fabricated storyline to me.

Also, the model next to Tyree looks like it lit up purple.

So I guess New York is predicting the Harbaugh Bowl?

too bad this didn't happen after the game.

GimpyNip: I'd like to see Giants/Pats. Most people would. It'd likely be the best game as well.
Most non-NFL fans don't even know who Alex Smith is as Joe Flacco is juice box drinking, race car bed sleeping, Elio's eating, at his parent's house living cry baby. Joe, seriously, if 'nobody is going to give you credit' it makes it worse to go and complain to the media about it. Sorry, you're not a star.

Also, in 1994, if someone said, 'hey, the giants, Patriots, and relocated Browns will all win Superbowls before the 49ers do.' you'd think they were insane.

I'm going to look really dumb for asking this, but what's Elio's? I've seen that Joe Flacco meme and still have no idea what it means. :-/

/I suppose I *could* Google it, but it's more fun to get answers from you Farkers ;)

GimpyNip: Ellio's is a rectangular shaped pizza that everyone who lives on the east coast grew up eating. I don't think they're national. When I lived in Los Angeles they didn't have Ellio's. But Ellio's is pretty good. So are Carvel Ice Cream Cakes (cookie puss FTW) and Hoodsies.

Huh. I've lived in VA all my life and never heard of it - thanks for the info. :D

there are plenty of people who do great work disparaging the Brady and Manning type QBs on this site, that is the easy well worn path.

I salute you sir for forging a new path as our indisputable king of Flacco ridicule

I don't think that would be worse. At least the Mannings actually have to play. The talk would be about actual visible measurable performance, not all the visionary mastermind chess game epic motivator crap. If there's a Harbaugh bowl, any fail short of Garrett icing his own kicker would go unrecognized, if not woefully and apologetically justified.

2012-01-22 11:17:49 AM
GimpyNip: I should have amended that to North East. I'm really not sure why Ellio's is only here, though. It's pretty good for what it is and I don't blame Flacco's mom for feeding it to Joe. I heard she promised him an entire tin can of Ecto-Cooler if he wins.

Ah, that explains it. I live in rural northwestern VA. :)

/never heard of Ecto-Cooler either - sounds like something ghosts would drink, lol.

2012-01-22 11:27:09 AM
GimpyNip: Wow, you've never heard of Slimer's Ecto-Cooler? It was a citrus flavored offering by Hi-C. Hi-C used to come in 32oz tin can that you had to puncture two holes in to consume. Supposedly it contained real fruit juice.

Nope. I have heard of Hi-C though, some of my friends used to drink it when we were kids (my mom limited my intake because of it being like 95% sugar, lol). I don't remember the tin can and the holes, though, but that could be because I was pretty young. *shrugs*

/I used to drink Five Alive when I was little, because I hated orange juice (still hate it), and I guess my mom figured it was a little more nutritious than stuff like Hi-C or whatever.
//It's kinda funny how little of this stuff I know - I only live about 4 hours away from Baltimore, but I guess living in a rural area kinda limits the product offerings.

I don't think you understand what a pre-fabricated story line is. What you just described is a intriguing and the stories write themselves. The Harbaugh bowl has no intrigue and the only way to sell it is a stupid sibling rivalry storyline. Everyone knows there is no sibling rivalry between the two. It isn't like one brother was left to die in the woods as an infant because his family could only afford one son. But than that brother was raised by wolves and became an awesome warrior and then he used his wolf pack skills to coach when he reintegrated into society and now he has to defeat the chosen brother in the Super Bowl. That would be an awesome storyline. But that isn't the case. The Harbaugh Bowl is as interesting as ''Jerone Bettis is from Detroit!!'

I know, right? there's no good story in a team going from 6-10 to 13-3, getting a bye and getting to the superbowl behind a QB who has largely been slept on, call a mere "manager" despite 3rd highest Qb rating, a team with the best defense in the conference and a power running game led by Frank Gore, all on the shoulders of a outspoken rookie head coach who routinely gives good fodder for the media. ya, no story there at all.
