NBC finished in 8th place on Thursday night thanks to the highly unwatched The Firm; it was beaten by a Univision program, a couple of Big Bang Theory reruns, and Jersey Shore

If they'd just put their faith in Conan and told Leno to FOAD, They wouldn't be in this mess today.

It was like watching a good book tumbling in the wind. I don't know what that means either. I kept waiting for Tom Cruise to dangle his baby off a balcony. I would give it fourteen out of thirteen billion stars. The show would be ten times better if my mom was in it. My mom would be f$@ked up for life.

The only thing worth watching on NBC is Parks and Recreation. The Office is a sad phantom of what it used to be, and nothing else is anything special.

Because 10 PM Fox is local news. They're not ranked because they're not even trying to play.

Hilariously, TFA notes that even if they'd kept Leno in primetime, they'd STILL be doing better than they are now. This is officially in "trainwreck" territory.

Because at that hour FOX isn't even participating. They've already gone to local news.

As a Canadian, I'm wondering why NBC cast so many Canadians in "The Firm".
Molly Parker is a talent, but c'mon; no amount of network-exec blowjobs is going to make Tricia Helfer believable as an actress.

I agree, with the stipulation that technically Community is also still on NBC. 30 Rock peaked three seasons ago. Community is so good that it should be on cable where it can be appreciated and given some room to grow an audience. Otherwise, Parks and Rec is definitely the only good thing about NBC that is airing right now.

Community, Parks and Rec, and Craig Ferguson are the only current things I like watching on any of the big networks. And go back a season or two and you could add The Office and 30 Rock to that list. So not that it means much to them, but NBC is good with me (compared to the other three).

"Community," "Parks and Recreation," and "Chuck." Although "Chuck" is only on the air for one more week (two episodes left, played back-to-back), so that cuts NBC programming down to two shows for me.
When they finally put "Awake" on the air, then it'll go back up to 3. That looks farking awesome, even though it feels like the "Lone Star" of this year, in no small part because it's the new series from the "Lone Star" guy.

It is no surprise that a broadcast in Spanish would dominate, at any hour. Think about it, if you moved to Russia (legally or illegally), and you watched tv and only one station played shows in English, that is what you would watch. People of Latino race dominate the population and it is amazing to me that Univision does not pull in Superbowl ratings every night. I speak Spanish and I hate the shows, but the rest of my family are part of the population that are leaving "The Firm" in the rear view mirror. The only Spanish speaking show that i ever liked actually resembles this....

Only funny network sitcom right now is Modern Family. NBC has complete shiat except one procedural that's decent. CBS has some decent dramas.

Even though 30 Rock and The Office are past their prime, I think those two shows sandwiched around Parks and Recreation is a decent hour and a half of television. If Community was still in there, it would be an even more solid two hours.

It tries hard, but the trying hard part really is only the Phil/Claire family parts, imho. Jay and family are consistently funny, as is Mitchell and Cameron. Honestly, I wouldn't care too much if it was awful, because Ed O'Neill is worth the price of admission regardless. He's a comedic genius

Really? I hadn't bothered to watch any of this show up until yesterday when I caught the first 5 minutes of an episode. It was borderline painful. It was like it was written by people who've never known any actual nerds and were just writing them as they imagine them to be as they scour the internet for science related things that sound smart.. And, worse, none of it was remotely funny. Did I just catch a bad episode?

Everything I've seen about the show is that it's essentially written for women who are entertained harmless male geeks, without all the real ultrageekiness. And everything the females at work say about it reinforces it for me.

I recently learned he's part of that series so I want to watch it since I watch everything with Ed O'Neill in it. I love him.
But...I get put off by Sofia Vergara. Yeah yeah, huge tits, okay but I can find those through a GIS.
Is her character any good? I live in Dominican Republic and so far the people here who watch the show love it, but I have the slight suspicion they love it because Vergara is speaking mangled English and somehow that's funny to them because they feel identified or whatever, but I kind of hate it. Find it forced and patronizing ("lol she's funny because she has an accent"). I think I'm onto something considering before this show, Vergara was a "never-was," seems to be she found the gimmick to with her boobs.

You're onto something. I've encountered way more female fans of the show than male ones.
But yeah, it's an unfunny show.
Why is most of what women like of such a terrible quality?
Twilight, Britney Spears, American Idol, reality shows in general is an industry fueled by women more than anything.

I find her amusing mostly. She has good timing, and part of it is definitely because Ed O'Neill makes everyone around him better. Her son in the show is also funny, and the three work well within the show. As far as her looks, they don't play a part in the comedy for the most part. Her ethnicity does more(cultural differences rather than accent)

I almost hate to say it because it makes me seem jaded and one of those "hate it when it becomes popular" people but this current season is really bad. It seems to have fallen into the trap of lazy writing where every character becomes nothing more than a caricature of their old selves. Plus it suffers from the same problem as The Soup wherein Joel McHale is really not that funny or likable.
Not to say they can't turn it around, because I felt the same way about Always Sunny for a couple years and this season has been great. Mostly because they decided to tone down the characters (the biggest example is that Charlie is no longer, for lack of a better word, retarded, but instead back to his old, more manipulative self)
And Modern Family is a funny show that is often times hurt by the tacked on moral lesson of the week that they throw in at the end of the show (plus Manny is terrible). I can see people finding the Mitchell/Cameron scenes offensive and being put off by that, but the Phil and his son Luke segments are fantastic.

I don't watch alot of TV during the week and pretty much just football and some pre / post game shows and the number of times I saw an ad for the show realy got annoying to the point I didn't want to see it anymore. sort of what happened with Sherlock Holmes, I felt like I saw the whole movie in the ads.

NBC wants to save itself with night viewers, it seems pretty simple. Just hit all the audiences possible.
Science fiction (x-fileish, fireflyish) theme for 1 of the nights
Super-natural (vampires, ghosts, troll hunting anyone?) theme for 1 of the nights
Sports type theme for 1 of the nights
Gay & lesbian theme for 1 of the nights
Crime & law (mix a western type aspect) theme for 1 of the nights
Affordable (under 2k) house pimping projects themes 1 of the nights

has declared that show unwatchable, a travesty, and a warcrime. The fact that you like it makes your wealth as a human being nonexistent and you should be ashamed for admitting it.
