I'm not a homeowner, I don't live in Miami, and I know shiat about bats.
What did these folks just unleash on the neighborhood?
Was there a way to trap these bats?
Are bats considered protected?
Seems like after the third tile of dozens of bats they should have rethought what they were doing.

Well how the hell else are you going to get them out?
I'm thinking a shop vac
Thump.....Thump.......ThumpThumpThumpThump....Thump....VROOOOOOOOO
Then when you're done, you can just put the shop vac on reverse and have a bat gun!

getting rid of them is easy if you do your research - you just lay netting over the entrances to the roof in such a way that they can get out, but not easily get back in. after a few nights the bats are gone, they aren't dead and best of all,
you don't have to have your entire roof torn off by incompetent builders

They were replacing the roof.
They were tearing it up either way.

In terms of pests to have infested your home, bats are fantastic.
They eat mosquitoes and other bugs by the ton.
If you can set up bat habitats in your yard, they're a great thing to have around.
Of course the problem with them being in your roof is the sheer amount of shiat and urine you'll have build up in there. Not cool.

I'm no bat expert by any means, but those bats were scurrying faster than any I've ever seen.
The ones I've seen move on the ground by using their wings, taking a solid 10-20 seconds just to move a few feet.

With all of the poop and pee from all those bats, you are going to have to strip the roof down to framing to fix it. And the incompetent builders were the ones that put the roof on to begin with and left out the screening to keep the bats from getting in to begin with.

Tie a piece of fruit or some other food on a string near it -- as it rots, it will attract insects, which attract bats.

You're just looking at rabid bats. They're slower but have a nasty bite.
Rabbit bats jump around a lot faster, as do ribbit bats.
